The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the oldest trade shows in the country. The first CES event was held in NYC back in 1967. There were over 17,000 attendees and over 100 exhibitors. Today CES is an annul phenomenon which is held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2010 exhibition which was held in January -- attracted more than 120,000 attendees. Unfortunately, CES is an industry event only -- consumers are not allowed to attend the trade show.
The organization that is responsible for the success of CES is the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This is the trade organization for the consumer electronics industry. The CEA is made up of over 2000 member companies and is led by President and CEO Gary Shapiro.
I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with SVP Jason Oxman on a new program that CEA recently launched -- Tech Enthusiast Membership.
