Our friend Ed had an electric car in the seventies, and probably looked like a bit of a ninny tootling around town. Now he's our environment guru, in the days when everyone is scuttling to buy a hybrid car. Strange that it is disaster that motivates a country, when people in the know had been informing her for years that she must change her ways. "Strange are the ways of the Lord."
