Fearless Living Boot Camp, Day 21 (VIDEO)

When I was 14, I thought I would grow up to become a singer. And then something happened. My parents died and I didn't want to be happy anymore so I refused to sing a note. Later, when I found myself humming in the shower and singing along to the car radio, I knew happiness had a fighting chance.

What makes you smile when OTHER people do it... but not necessarily you?

Watch this one-minute Fearless Living Boot Camp video to find out what you can do to make your day a little happier right now.

When I was 14, I thought I would grow up to become a singer. And then something happened. My parents died and I didn't want to be happy anymore so I refused to sing a note.

Later, when I found myself humming in the shower and singing along to the car radio, I knew happiness had a fighting chance.

You can't help but be happy when you sing. Come on. You know it's true.

My sister Linda -- God love her -- loves to sing. But she can't stay on key no matter how hard she tries.

Why is my sister one of the bravest people I know? She has always let her off-key voice be heard. Bring her to a karaoke bar and she's the first one up on stage. For friends' birthday parties, anniversary dinners and anything else you can think of, you can find my sister and her four equally off-key friends singing parodies (with choreography, natch) entertaining the guests.

The one talent she doesn't have -- singing -- is the very thing she does almost every day. Why? Because she loves it. Singing makes her happy. It can do the same for you. It is like a mini-meditation in and of itself.

So there you have it -- your Day 21 challenge. Yes, it's your job to sing today. You don't have to start a sing-a-long or volunteer to sing solo at church (unless you want to?). But you must, absolutely must, have your voice heard -- preferably in song!

Give this gift to yourself. I know you might feel silly or stupid, but who cares. YOU ARE ALIVE. Come on. Sing it! Shout it to the world with a little background music.
