I finally arrived in Korea for the Haiti/Nigeria 17 and under World Cup Soccer match. At first, American Airlines wouldn't send extra planes to Haiti after Hurricane Dean came through. They were telling Sunday's passengers that they wouldn't be able to leave for ten days. I'm surprised there wasn't a riot. The line of delayed passengers stretched out of the airport building for one hundred yards. I recommend that the decision makers at American Airlines take part in a racial sensitivity seminar. I took a small plane to the Dominican Republic where there seemed to be no lines, crowds or delays.
By the time I get here to Korea, I'm reading in an English language newspaper about the dissertation President Bush made on the similarities between Iraq and Vietnam. This guy went to Yale right? My dad taught at Yale for at least 15 years so i feel I know a little about the place. Is there a way for an institution to revoke an academic degree. Seriously. This is intellect? This is leadership? The intelligence community still hasn't come clean on Iraq despite their reportings to date. As I said before, either they are totally incompetent and ineffective or the President is completely ignoring them. These issues should be addressed when and if the Democrats can improve on their Congressional majority.
The other news that caught my eye here on this side of the world is Oprah's Obama bash (did it happen already?). I met Oprah once. I was with my wife. We were introduced by a mutual friend. She looked at my wife as though she was a juicy piece of steak. I was a bit taken aback. I guess Mrs. Obama (who seems to be the pitbull of the Obama household) knows what she's getting into. I wish them all the best but I think I'd rather be at the Magic Johnson party.
