Current TV is reporting that Nike secretly bought or secured rights to a Tokyo park that many homeless Japanese have turned into a sanctuary. According to the story, Nike is evicting the homeless people to build a branded park designed to promote their image and products. Many Westerners may not be aware that Japan has a large homeless problem. The social safety net has not been strong enough to keep thousands of unemployed Japanese off the streets. Many live in tent communities erected on city parks.
