Rick Santorum: Down, Boy!

Rick Santorum turned on George W. Bush today like a ... well, like a dog. "Certainly mistakes were made (in Iraq)," said the Senator, as another of his alliances showed hairline fractures. While President Bush appeared elsewhere in Pennsylvania, condemning war critics, the Senator rebuked his Party leader (bitchslapping the media, too, for good measure).

Sen. Santorum, as many recall, became famous for equating homosexuality with "man on dog" bestiality in an interview. That comment sparked this line, which I consider to be the most memorable comment ever spoken by a wire service reporter while executing their professional duties:

AP: I'm sorry, I didn't think I was going to talk about "man on dog" with a United States senator, it's sort of freaking me out.

Somebody needs to ask Santorum some questions about his allies. Does the Senator stand with those citizens of his state who exercised their right to select a school board in Dover, or with his ally Pat Robertson - who condemned them to Godless destruction for their action? Does he stand with his own Catholic Church, which accepts evolution as "proven" and says that anti-scientific religiosity leads to "fundamentalism," or is he a "cafeteria Catholic"? Does he stand with the President he has supported for so long, or with those who consider that President's management of the war incompetent?

The Senator from Pennsylvania should be careful, or his own words will come back ... to bite him.
