Ask Robbie: Online Profile Frustration

Everybody is different so try to not judge someone just by their profile alone. I know it's tempting to do so but try to send them a message. Say, Hi. Strike up a conversation and dig a bit deeper into what they have to offer.

Someone thought that I would have epic dating advice so they decided to write to me and ask for my assistance. It's a good thing they did not ask me to drive a car otherwise we would all be doomed.

Dear Robbie:

I get so frustrated when looking at online dating profiles because they look exactly the same. Every single one of them. I don't understand why people just can't write what's in their hearts anymore. What's up with that? Am I expecting too much from men online?

Confused Dater.

Dear Confused,

I want you to look at your online dating profile, and remember how hard it was for you to write the things that you put. It might not have been really hard for you but I am sure that you did pause for a second and think about what you were going to write. You wondered how you'd sound to others online. This is something you need to take into account when looking at other men online. They may not be very good writers and just don't know how to write how they feel, as well.

I don't think you're holding an unrealistic standard but I do believe you're taking first impressions more seriously than you should. Try to connect more rather than judge someone. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Robbie.
