Say What? This Just In...

So it turns out President Obama wasn't really endorsing the construction of an Islamic Cultural Center near Ground Zero after all.

One should always think of his words as a stream of consciousness; like listening to a police radio. You may hear anything.

Now he says he was merely supporting the right of Muslims to build a cultural center because American law doesn't discriminate against any religion or in favor of any other one.

Today, he cleared it up.

"I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our country is about," he said Saturday as he was trying to decide whether to test the waters of Florida.

His administration has assured the nation, and the world, that it is safe to swim there and eat the fish. Seventy-five percent of the oil is gone, his experts said.

Like his speech Friday night, available on a Website listed in this column, it may not be entirely clear whether he swims or not. The White House did make available a photo of Obama and his daughter, Sasha, swimming.

He doesn't want any more macho photos of him shirtless.

Let's see. Have promises on the wars been kept? On the rights of gay and lesbian soldiers? On shutting down Gitmo? On ending torture?

As for me, I was born in Missouri, "The Show Me State."

Here is the speech:

Many Muslim Americans may feel like the gays and lesbians left on the city hall steps last Thursday when they thought they were about to be allowed to marry. For Obama supporters: fool them once and it is his fault. Fool them again and again it is their fault.
