I informed my parents that I'd been given the opportunity to write for a major gay magazine. My father's reaction was a happy one, but he wanted me to change my name; the Iranian government keeps tabs on anyone who is the least bit Iranian.
The Iranian government, to soften the rhetoric when violating human rights, relies on a spurious excuse: cultural difference. This argument posits that human rights are by definition a Western priority and cannot be considered universal.
We cannot sit back while spiritual and government leaders continue to promote the systematic killing or persecution of any individual for the sexual orientation that God gave him or her.
How horrible! I do wonder how homosexuals view this act of torture. My first thought was the old adage, 'The man who had no shoes complained until he met the man with no feet.' However, it seems a bit inappropriate???? The world is so insensitive and so full of hate! I have no words.

Since it is a free world drop the hypocracy, let Ahmadinejad be..its with in his right not to agree with western tolorence of gays... which is what they do..once your grandson is one of them your left with only one choice but to accept that what you can not change

"why would a gay person want to live in iran anyway"?
You mean, it's a choice, like being gay? What a ridiculous thread.
Maybe they were born there and can't get out? Maybe they have family there? Maybe they have a life there and don't know what to do? Maybe you're a woman who is a lesbian? Good luck with that one in Iran.
The only argument that supports imadinnerjacket is: if the men all look like him, there probably aren't gay men in iran.

See a tongue-in-cheek graphic titled "Mahmoud Dearest", which has a little fun with the Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his unbelievable comments at Columbia University...particularly the one whereby he asserts that there aren't any gays in Iran...here:
Actually, you get your choice of execution methods: hanging, stoning, being dropped from a high building and one other lovely little technique that escapes me now.
He really is the mirror image of the christianistas and the religious wrong. I think you're correct - they are envious of his methods of dealing with gays.
The sad part is the christianistas will never understand how closely related they are to imadinnerjacket's way of thinking.

Why would a gay person want to live in Iran anyway? Why are gay people even angry about this? The biggest hit to the gay community will be when they get everything they want because they won't have anything to do anymore but look inward. All the reactions to this crazy man's comments just show how attention the gay community craves. If they were smart they would have taken that as a compliment.
Ingsocittome: Why would a gay person want to live in Iran
Yeah, I thought I was alone in seeing how desperately we queers have been skipping to the nooses over in Iran. And we all ask for exfoliating soap so our heads don't look bloaty when they cut them off. WHAT ATTENTION WHORES.
Seriously, the next time you have a thought, just let it go. Along with your body. Off a building. If your neighbors got over 1,000 special legal protections and incentives from a religious ceremony - one from which you were specifically barred - you might get feisty too. Gay people are angry about this because we may be hated here, and discriminated against, but at least most of us are allowed to live.
Although, hell, with this Administration and brilliant comments like yours I'm half-expecting the pink triangle cloth patches to be distributed in the streets any day now.
