I went downtown to visit Ground Zero and the proposed site for the Cordoba House yesterday to find out when Abe Foxman and the Anti Defamation League are going to release the grid which shows just how far from Ground Zero Muslims are allowed to build community centers.

I didn't find out, but i did shoot this video...

I just have two questions, even though I support the building of the "mosque."

Where is the money coming from?

And is there a significant local Muslim community that it is going to serve?

I have to agree with your questions. If the whole purpose of Park51 is to build bridges between people of different faiths, then even before it is built, it is not doing that. I made my own video of the demonstrations, which took place on 8/22. I found that there was intolerant speech coming from both sides of the debate : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnD7Z5W1NYU

Cute piece done with a bit of flair, I like it! My BS meter goes off the scale whenever I hear any religious person talk about someone else's religion, it is hilarious!

Sam's totally right! The extreme Right stokes racial paranoia/hatred for political gain. Just look at how Fox News and Andrew Breibart and Glenn Beck regularly gin up white paranoia of African-Americans because we have a black president.

As a Muslim, I say "THANK YOU!!" When I read the comments some folks post on this topic (and the proposed mosques in TN and Staten Island), I get worried and tremendously sad.

You've restored my faith that there are people who will stand with us for our rights.

Thank you again.

Hey thanks, Sam. It's true what some posts say, Willie Peter is some bad news bears to use for ANYTHING, let alone human beings. (oh, I didn't get that from Fox News, I've actually have seen it)

The ADL favors a militaristic approach towards Iran. That's about as progressive as the National Socialists circa September 1939.

Sam Seder, You are brilliant! Why don't you apply for Foxman's job, so ADL can fight bigotry, once again? Fanned!

This whole Arab vs. Israeli crap is getting old! Why don't you just realize you are both the same and stop the fighting. It hasn't solved anything in ages of fighting. Try something different, as you are both wrong. Abandon the rediculous 'God' thing and embrace the consciousness of a universal union. We are all the same friend, not distinct and different as you would imagine.

I understand it's not the common people's fault. The leaders maintain the stupid separatism ideal and keep us fighting among ourselves.

So, I ask you, how has your religions served you over these hundreds of years? If your 'Gods' loved you would they allow this foolishness to continue? Silly question I know, because there ARE NO GODS! We are it. Realize it and shake hands.

White phosphorous would not be an issue if Hamas and Hisbollah did not insist on firing rockets into civilian areas in Israel. I would agree the wall and other measures that stop Palestinian attacks on Israel are hard to bear, but the Palestinians and their sympathisers should not be so dim that they think Israelis should allow themselves to be slaughtered. Speaking up for Palestinians to improve their lot is a good idea. First, they must get rid of Hamas and all others who make war on civilians of any nationality. Then they will have the right to expect humane treatment from their neighbours. But while they rain bombs on their neighbours, they oughtn't to expect those neighbours to accept their fates, or to assist them in the homicidal rage in any way.

Ridiculous. White phosporous, Hamas, and Hezbollah would not be an issue if Israel ending the occupation and their apartheid rampage.

The Palestinians are not slaughtering Israelis. Where were you during Cast Lead, and all the illegal settler squatter violence that continues everyday. Israel has the firepower and the ragtag IDF to terrorize the Palestinians with night raids and detentions.

"First, they must get rid of Hamas and all others who make war on civilians of any nationality. Then they will have the right to expect humane treatment from their neighbours". Good one. Now your making humane treatment conditional? Everyone deserves humane treatement regardless, get it? Clean up your own backyard first.

The wall? Good, get your people behind it and into Israel proper and out of the West Bank, otherwise tear it down because it does no good protecting the Palestinains from settler violence and 'price tags'.

You are also ignoring the fact that Israel helped Hamas rise in the 1980s to defeat the PLO and then when the PLO ceased being effective advocates for its people, it embraced it and sidelined Hamas.

Zionism is the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians from their land. You can’t accuse Hamas while ignoring all the right wingers in Israel who call for the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. You’re a hypocrite and not very good one at that.

Hamas is not going to go away and they are not occupying anyone's land and practicing apartheid. Israel is.

> White phosphorous would not be an issue if Hamas

White phosphorus is an issue no matter who is involved. The reason Israel is *always* involved is they use it (and other weapons Geneva prohibits for use on civilian populations) on civilian populations, not on military targets, on civilians, on women and children.

> First, they must get rid of Hamas

Hamas was funded by Israel when it first started because Israelis wanted to disrupt the peace process. They could not stand America putting them on an equal footing with Arafat, and they funded Hamas knowing it would create a schism in the Palestine community.

Israel got what they wanted and now they have to deal with Hamas on an equal footing.

The first step in the peace process is to stop considering Israel's wants and wishes, and to get them out of Palestine. Until that happens, there will not be peace.
