Over the last few years, I feel I have completely transformed nutritionally. I am extremely focused on nutrition, more so than at any other point in my life. I find when I am intensely focused on something, everything I need just shows up. When Green Star sent me a juicer, I knew juicing greens was the next step in my nutritional evolution.

I had always known the benefits of leafy greens, more specifically, kale. Dr. Joel Fuhrman ranks kale as one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. There are many health benefits. Kale is an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and manganese, and is a very good source of dietary fiber, copper, calcium, vitamin B6, and potassium. If I were stranded on a deserted island with only one food, I would choose kale.

Years ago I went through a juicing phase and tried to make kale juice. It tasted horrible and my little juicer was just not made to juice something like kale. I gave up. About a year ago at our local health food store juice bar, I discovered something called Green Lemonade. It has a big bunch of organic kale in it along with organic apples, organic celery, organic ginger, and an organic lemon. It tastes amazing. Now that I have a good juicer I can make Green Lemonade at home. How else would I consume that amount of greens on a daily basis? So I call Green Lemonade my miracle tonic! I even have my kids drinking it!

When I posted a tip on kale juice in our daily tips, I can't begin to tell you how many people emailed to ask about kale juice recipes and wanting to know what kind of juicer I use. I have told so many people that "green juice will change your life."

The Green Star juicers are great household juicers because they have a "twin-gear press," which means they extract juice from almost all leafy greens. When juicing greens you don't want a lot of heat, which can destroy important nutrients. The Green Star juicer puts out less heat than many other brands, which means you get maximum nutritional benefits.

I have now been officially drinking Green Lemonade about five times a week for the past year and honestly, I feel great! I have more energy, sleep better, my skin looks better, and my overall well-being has improved.

To make Green Lemonade, use the following organic ingredients and consume immediately: a big fistful of kale, seven stalks of celery, one inch piece of ginger, two apples, and one lemon with the ends cut off. Watch the video below for more information.
