Today my friend Lt. Dan Choi went on trial for chaining himself to the White House fence in protest of "don't ask, don't tell" (DADT). He came out on The Rachel Maddow Show in March 2010, just a few months before the law was struck down, and was discharged as a result. Despite the fact that his cause for protesting no longer exists, the U.S. Department of Justice has aggressively pursued the charges against him and has repeatedly denied his requests to have the charges dismissed.
Dan is one of the bravest, strongest, best people I know. He's got a whole lot of guts and passion and love, and watching him as he literally crafts his own defense, arguing for his very dignity in a country that he risked his life to serve, has been one of the most heart-wrenching experiences of my life. He deserves better than this.
We made this song and video to raise awareness:
I'm literally pleading with you on this one: Please help get the word out. The hashtag is #fail2obey. Thank you!
