"Change of Heart"...

Of course, we know Romney has "evolved" ---- in the last four weeks, and he may pull it out, because you can fool all of the people some of the time.

In a quick email to a colleague who forwarded me the Des Moines Register endorsement of Romney (apparently a "change of heart" from their 2008 endorsement of Obama ), I responded:

But see the editorials in the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, and Boston Globe -- Which Romney will we get? The "moderate" or the "severely conservative" one? The one who loves all 100 percent of us, or the one who loves just the 53 percent who aren't "takers"? Which Romney will take on the right wing of his own party? Is he the one who pledged armed intervention in Syria and Iran, or the "peace loving" one at the debate who just might be a bit quicker to sanction than Obama?

This is the Romney who announced that, as part of the "real recovery," all of us could get tax relief, but it would be "revenue neutral"? Something about a MATH issue there, I think -- but of course, he will unleash private enterprise to cure all deficits and enhance revenue -- and do all that while preserving all the good parts of Obamacare, but getting rid of the bad, and same with regulation....!

Who is he kidding? You guessed it, US! Or do you think he's really kidding Grover Norquist, the right wing and the tea party folks who elected him?

Of course, we know he has "evolved" -- AGAIN -- in the last four weeks, and he may pull it out, because you can fool all of the people some of the time.

This doesn't mean Obama is a star or the critique is wrong; it just means -- with Romney, be careful what you wish for, because you have no idea who you'll get! And it might just be someone like Paul Ryan, before he became the equally "morphed" VP nominee -- you know, the one who ran a 2:50 marathon! The one who didn't really write those letters in support of the stimulus, and the one who really meant to oppose the "credit card" spending on the two wars he voted for (that exploded the deficit); and the one who forgot he voted against Erskine-Bowles....!

As they say on ESPN Monday night football -- C'MON, MAN!

And I will always wonder here how women can split 50-50 for Republicans, who have every ANNOUNCED intention of returning them socially to the days of MAD MEN!
