As local residents have been playing golf in this region since the 1400s, you are bound to be met with some pretty sophisticated courses and passionate players. Try the Nairn Golf Club or Inverness Golf Club if you want to experience renowned green. The holes are challenging and some pretty well-known golf enthusiasts have spent time there practicing their game. Make your way to St. Andrews if you want to experience a course that almost all of the top names in golf have played on. You can also try out the Royal Dornoch, a club that has been open for more than 100 years and offers some pretty intense green.

The Big Island, Hawaii

Golfing might not be your first thought when you think about Hawaii. However, with all of its natural landscape and open air, it makes sense that there are some fantastic golfing options there as well. There are plenty of links that are situated right on the coast so that you get that cool ocean breeze while focusing on your swing. Watch your ball travel down lava rock-lined pathways and look out over the beaches on your breaks. Check in with your resort to see if they can help you find some of the best courses on the island.

San Diego, California

Due to recent rains, San Diego golf courses seem to be thriving and golf enthusiasts are traveling near and far to try them out. The county seems to be full of top rated courses like Madera Golf Club, Rams Hill and Aviara Golf Club. These courses have been said to be in tip top shape while offering stunning views of San Diego's infamous natural scenery. Many of these golf courses come in tow with luxury resorts which are offering some of the best in luxury dining, spas and green. Check out Torrey Pines as it's said to be one of the best out there.

Ireland

This green country is notorious for having some of the best golf courses around. The list of golf resorts to visit here goes on and on but it starts with the Royal Portrush. It has been hosting professional tournaments on its grounds since the 1800s and was home to the one and only Open Championship that has ever been held in the country. Try your skills at the Lahinch course which was started back in the 1800s. It was expertly designed with frequent slopes, bunkers and interesting fairways that made the course seem like a work of art within itself. Lastly, make a stop at Druid's Glen if you like a bit more of a challenge. It features holes placed in the woods, around suspension bridges and gorgeous landscaping. Plus, it is so well loved that it served as the site of the Irish Open for three years.

England

Another great destination for golf lovers, England has plenty to offer in the ways of courses and lovely scenery. Stop in at Royal Lytham in Lancanshire which is known for its tight course and intriguing layout. It's been played by many professionals who look back upon their time there fondly.
