Palin: Burning Bridges to Everywhere

Just when I think Sarah Palin must have gone off her meds... she demonstrates she has...

Months ago, she asked Ted Stevens "to step aside... to play a very statesmanlike role in this now." RESIGN! This week, she asked Senator Begich to resign. Does she think if they all resign she can move to Washington? I wonder. Write your own rules, play your own game and you get a free wardrobe? Did we vote for best looking? Or best Levi's? Or best smile? NO! Sarah Palin ousted incumbent Frank Murkowski in the primary and popular governor Tony Knowles in the general! She won because the People wanted change. The people wanted leadership. The people wanted Ethical Honest Government. The people did not want Mean Girl Snark!

Tonight she released a letter to Senate President Gary Stevens. Background: I'll be brief. Juneau Senator Kim Elton-D received an appointment from President Obama to work in the Department of Interior on March 6, 2009. Alaska rules state that the district party submit preferred candidates to the Governor for an appointment. The Juneau Democrats gave Sarah Palin one name: Beth Kerrtula. Beth is currently a House Representative. She has been a member of the House since 1999. She has been the House leader since 2006. Kerrtula is clearly the most qualified candidate in Juneau.

During the campaign, Beth said that Sarah Palin was not qualified to be VICE-President... I know, shocking assessment. Sarah had a cow and named local Republican turned Democrat Tim Grussendorf to the seat.

Tim was a Republican 3 weeks ago... tadah! Now he's a Dem. The rules state the Senate Democrats have to approve the appointment. They said, "Thanks but no thanks."

More background...even briefer: Star Date 2007, Republican Representative (from Wasilla) Vic Kohring was convicted of bribery and corruption. Empty seat. Sarah appoints an elder from her Super Size Your Jesus church, Wes Keller. The Repubs approve... DONE, Keller is a House Representative.

My gosh, you're all caught up! OH, Wait! The process is now UNCONSTITUTIONAL to Madam Palin. She has just released a letter saying she wants her pick; Republican Tim Grussendorf (sounds like a wizard from Harry Potter) to go before the full house for approval! And, Palin believes the historical process is wrong.

I only hope she has medicine for the drama she brings to the state of Alaska. Here is her letter:

April 2, 2009

The Honorable Gary Stevens
President
Alaska State Senate
State Capitol, Room 111
Juneau, AK 99801

Dear Senator Stevens:

On March 31, I nominated, under AS 15.40.320, Mr. Tim Grussendorf to fill the vacant senate seat for senate district B. On the following day, April 1, I received an unsigned memo from "Alaska Senate Democrats" to Senator Gary Stevens that the nomination of Tim Grussendorf, "did not achieve the needed support to be seated." The memo also stated that "Today the nine Senate Democrats met to discuss Governor Palin's nomination." Based on various news reports, it is our understanding that the meeting of Senate Democrats took place behind closed doors.

The Alaska Constitution provides that "Each [house of the legislature] is the judge of the . . . qualifications of its members. . . ." Alaska Const. art. II, sec. 12. The Department of Law has opined that "confirmation by a political caucus is probably a legally deficient procedure. The confirmation procedure set out in existing law appears to conflict with the Alaska Constitution." 1987 Inf. Op. Att'y Gen. 2 (Sept. 21; 663-88-0107).
Accordingly, the closed-door action taken by a minority of the Alaska Senate is without legal effect. Until the Alaska Senate takes action consistent with the Alaska Constitution, my appointment of Mr. Grussendorf remains in effect.
I respectfully request that the entire Alaska Senate consider my nomination of Mr. Grussendorf in open session, in the same fashion as the legislature would consider any other appointment subject to confirmation. The people of Alaska and Juneau are entitled to a public confirmation process that is consistent with the Alaska Constitution.

Sincerely,
Sarah Palin
Governor

cc: The Honorable Johnny Ellis, Senate Majority Leader

Enclosures:
Memorandum to Senator Gary Stevens, Alaska State Senate President.
File No. 663-88-0107, Subject: Procedure for appointment to fill legislative vacancy.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY....ISN'T "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" where you discuss such matters? It's Alaska...all the doors are closed right now! It's called heat retention. The political posturing is pathetic. Has anyone reminded the governor that her only friends for the last 2 years have been the Democrats? That is how she passed ACES and AGIA, the two sparkliest jewels in her "Miss Governor" tiara. Too bad those Dems are under the bus now.

With the GOP dumping Sarah Palin for Newt Gingrich, Wayne Anthony Ross a less than savory Attorney General candidate and Senator Begich NOT resigning, we may be witnessing the desperate gasps, rattling coughs, and grasping at ghosts of a lost political career.

Just when I think Sarah Palin must have gone off her meds... she demonstrates she has... Months ago, she asked Ted Stevens "to step aside... to play a very statesmanlike role in this now." RESIGN! ...

I continue to be amazed that there are still a (very) few around who think that Sarah Palin has even a grain of sand chance to get nominated to run for the presidency. It was made exceedingly clear during the '08 elections that Palin simply does not have the education, experience or common sense to hold such a position in this country. This woman has shown that she only represents a very small minority of the same thinking right wing in contrast to how our current president governs, which is to represent "all Americans", regardless of their views. Palins continued reach into the public eye only cements her ambition to "control" what can only be described as fanatical and out of touch with reality. If the GOP, in all their infinite wisdom, chooses to nominate this woman, then it will be the end of that party. Somehow, I don't believe that even republicans, with their political will to survive, would so willingly present Palin as a possible Commander-In-Chief when it's apparent to all that she hasn't a chance in hell to win.

I hope those are death rattles, because Palin as a Presidential contender scares the bejesus out of me. In the VP debate, she made it clear that she considered the power grabs of the Bush/Cheney administration to be small potatoes. I have no doubt that a President Palin would see nothing as an obstacle, including the constitution. Her behavior in Alaska is a foreshodowing of what she would be like in the white house.

I'd love it if she tired of politics and took up the Hasselback seat on The View. Then her spoutings could be enjoyed for pure entertainment value without the fear that they would ever amount to anything.

Part 3 (conclusion):

The left is creating its own monster and moving us closer to the days where they will manifest their own fears through their derangement. One day, liberals will wake up in a cold sweat, hearts pounding. For it is these words that puts more fear into a liberals hearts than any other: "I, Sarah Heath Palin, do solemnly swear..."

I continue to hold hope that there will be more anti-Palin hit pieces coming in the future.

Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan. The way she's been held to account is revealing how different they are by the day, to the Republican's dismay. For instance, Ronald Reagan had a brain. There's the fundamental and insurmountable discrepency. And you can't buy those at Neiman Marcus.

And in reading your 3 part manifesto (do you by any chance have a cousin named Ted?) the one thing that pops out is that Alaska voted for her on a tough no more corruption platform. And you said that the "Sarah Palin they elected before the Vice Presidential campaign was back, she put the nation on alert that this is who she is." lol Well....she went home. When they can keep her there. But she wasn't the Sarah Palin they elected (though she doesn't seem to have been that even before the VP run.)

But the one thing you got the right is that she's put the nation on alert that this is who she is. Oh she am what she am in all it's tawdry, inept glory. No argument there. Or to quote the governor in one of her few moments speaking coherently "you betcha!".

And don't think you've put fear in a "liberal's heart" from this poster. I'm a moderate Independent.

Part 2:

What validates Palin supporters' sense that Palin is Reagan is that Palin is being treated like Reagan was by the same leftist media and the elitists in our country. A quick watch of a section of "Rendezvous with Destiny" confirms this assertion. Linda Chavez said Reagan was reviled by the press. Dr. Paul Kengor < a href="http://www.visandvals.org/Hating_Palin_Words_of_Wisdom_from_Reagan.php?view_all=1">writes "Often, maintaining sanity and surviving means simply ignoring the haters. That’s where Ronald Reagan was before he stepped foot in the White House. And that’s a good place for a conservative Republican like Sarah Palin."

If the ankle biting stops and the historical parallels to the way Reagan was "Palinized" after the 1976 Republican Convention fizzles, that's when Palin supporters need to worry. As long as she's a credible threat to expose liberalism for the intellectually bankrupt philosophy that it is, she will be attacked because she it enemy number 1 of the Democratic party. She will be attacked long into her presidency, if you hold the theory that history repeats itself.

A current perusal of the internet is starting to show that there are more and more pro-palin social networks popping up. This phenomena is in direct response to the number of "hit pieces" being spewed on the web against her.
04:31 PM on 04/07/2009
Wasn't it Reagan who armed the Taliban AND Saddam Hussein? Not to mention financing rebels who raped and murdered nuns. And wasn't Reagan all about deregulation? In case you haven't noticed, that's kinda ALL blown up BADLY.

Part 1:

"Accordingly, the closed-door action taken by a minority of the Alaska Senate is without legal effect. Until the Alaska Senate takes action consistent with the Alaska Constitution, my appointment of Mr. Grussendorf remains in effect."

Kind of gives ya chills to see the combative Sarah Palin back again. Her rise to power in Alaska was based on a tough "anti-business as usual" approach. Alaskans were sick of corruption. She was their voice and she beat Murkowski in the primary to go on and become governor.

When Sarah "Barracuda" wrote those words, she put the not only the state of Alaska on notice that the Sarah Palin they elected before the Vice Presidential campaign was back, she put the nation on alert that this is who she is. This is the Sarah Palin Alaskans elected. Only this time, out of staters and national columnists are now criticizing her for political moves and a style that Alaskans overwhelmingly approved of before she hit the national scene.

When the left attacks her for "burning bridges to everywhere" by being in your face and telling you like it is, it's just a dream come true for Palinites who think she's the next coming of Reagan. As the leftists on sites such as this one continue the bash-fest, the more at ease Palinites feel about her credibility and her viability as a presidential candidate.

Did you just shoot your manya with that one? My Gran-Pop tried teachin' me : "Don't ever argue with a drunk, an insane man or a fundamentalist; especially those ones that say the sky god talks to 'em." Wow, and he died 30 years before you could blog. an' that reminds me: Is your user name a subconscious salute to Michelle The insane Bachman and Michael Stockholm Syndrome Steele? Obviously your "conscious" salute is to the man who harmed Americans, perhaps arguably, the most in our contemporary chronicle; with the revisionist history ...WOW...I am a foolio! Doing EXACTLY what my Gran-pop taught me NOT to do; arguing with a.. well, "..it's progress not perfection boy!" Is another one he'd say. So, LATE!

Talk about drinking the kool aid! Your grand dad taught you true.... I can not fathom why anyone thinks Reagan would be good for the 21st century when he was so wrong for the 20th. Perhaps because we are so close to easter and thoughts of resurrection abound somehow this poor chap got politics and religion all mixed-up. Or maybe with Palin's political career so close to death ...and there being no other viable (living) republican candidates on hand..well the ole "R" man came to mind. Personally, I'll keep my eye on Jesus alone for the resurrection and let Ronnie RIP as he should. Sarah not the first or second coming of anything that would be any good for America. In this life or any other fantasy.

Being a Democrat myself, I will definately donate to her campaign just so I can grab a bowl of popcorn and a soda and watch "Live Comedy!" She will mix right in with her other Republican candidates! I can hardly wait to see who trashes who first!! Aren't we very fortunate that McCain/Palin ticket went with the bridge to nowhere? Its quite entertaining now to watch how the Republicans scramble to keep up with the new President, who is a multi-task player, and gets things done, rather than hobnobbing with the rich a powerful, and can't keep up with the new Congress. Get those ole guys and their cobweb brains into retirement and let the young people run and win for office!! Sooooooooooo funny when they try to write up their own Budget and don't even know what is in it. Can't hardly wait for 2010!

yes, its lovely to watch more money disappear into corporate pockets, while the treasury goons apologize and posture, and Obama asserts that what Geithner wants, Geithner gets. Which is more money for his corporate owners. Meanwhile... there's talk of a cap on salaries. No, not theirs... ours. Watching Palin detonate is like watching the black plague creep through your veins, amusing, but lethal.

Thank you for your article. Please continue to keep us up dated! I am flabergasted at her nerve to appoint a man that just switched from being a republican to being a democrat 3 weeks ago! She has such hubris and frankly terrible judgement! The people she chooses are either unqualified or inappropriate and I guess that can be said of Palin herself! I truely hope she is booted out of office and never holds another elected office!!!! I was horrified when McCain snatched her out of obscurity and the wing-nut base greeted her as the answer to their political aspirations! I was so angery with McCain and the GOP that they would proffer this uneducated, inept, divisive, hateful woman so ambitious that she would do or say anything to advance herself...I did not take an easy breath until after the election!!! Then afterwards to my and others dismay she would not get out of the lime light! She should never, ever get that close to a National Office again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sp is the gift that keeps giving. I predicted that many months ago she would implode within a year but I think it will be sooner. The Johnston family as well as the McCain crew will out her. But here is the biggy: To back up Andrew Sullivan's timeline of her Trig pregnancy: go to National Governor's Association conference in Washington Dc in Feruary 23-25 of 2008. go to the portrait of the sitting govs. Sarah is in the front row (of course front row!) This is about two months before Trig was born april 18. Clearly amd surely to goodness she is not pregnant. Her skirt is too short to be 7 months pregnant and she couldn't be standing that close to those around her. She looks about a trim size 12. The liar that keeps on giving. Other point: if she is claiming him as her son don't you think there could be some fraud if she has put grandson on her health insurance? The plot thickens.

Doesn't anyone sit down with this woman and say "I don't know if that's a good idea, Sarah." or "WTF are you thinking , Sarah?" or "Do you want the whole world to know..uh sorry..think you're totally crazy?"
If they don't they need to. I know, let's let her fantastic advisor, Greta's husband, do it.
