Palin Can't Quit Quitting

It has been reported for weeks Sarah Palin would be speaking at the Reagan Library fundraiser on the eighth of August. With just a week to go, the planners should be calling William Shatner to fill in.

This just in from Palin's Facebook:

As repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week, former Governor Sarah Palin is not committed to attend the Simi Valley Republican Women's event at the Reagan Library and in fact is not attending the event. Neither the Governor's state staff nor SarahPAC has ever committed to attending this event or speaking at this event, and even requested that the Governor's name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago. The Governor has other work and commitments to take care of at that time. She looks forward to visiting her friends in California soon.

All event requests must be confirmed with Meghan Stapleton of SarahPAC. Additionally, all invitations bearing the Governor's name must be approved by her attorney before proceeding.

Last fall, after being booked for 2 months, Palin's appearance was cancelled at a Coalition of Life event.

Her husband was sent in her place for the Washington Correspondence Dinner.

Palin wouldn't commit to speak at a ceremony honoring the fallen soldiers of Alaska, then demanded to speak and on stage seating the morning of the event.

She was replaced with Gingrich at a GOP fundraiser in June, citing her busy job as governor.

It's just as well, she may have walked out half way through...

Note to Meg, stop calling her governor...she quit.

Can we just stop paying attention to this spokesmodel? C'mon, everyone knows if she looked like Janet Reno we'd have never heard of her.

I'm not at all surprised by the "new" development, nor am I surprised by her camp once again shifting blame on why she won't attend. What does in fact surprise me is that some of her delusional fans are buying into this bull, and truly believe she is anything but a quitter. But that too will soon pass, they will cease to surprise me when it comes to how much of the kool-aid they're willing to swallow.

Not a single one of these appearances at which she was supposedly "booked" were ever confirmed by Sarah Palin or her representatives. The real story is how eager so many groups across America are to have her speak at their meetings. So eager, they think that leaking Palin's name in connection with their event will somehow pressure her to show up. Wishful thinking. When she does decide to return to the stage and kick hell out of the incompetent Obama administration, she'll draw more headlines than he will, and hopefully sabotage his entire agenda.

Maybe it happens this way each time: They book her, then they realize she doesn't have a speech prepared (she delivered one written by a top level Republican speechwriter at the Convention, and mostly the same speech at most of her campaign appearances). Then more thought goes into it, and it's Newt after all.

I agree with many of these comments concerning calling Palin "governor.­"
Out of respect former politicians are adddresed by their highest position held: ex, "President Carter" though we know he's not the current president.
However, Palin is properly addressed as the ex-governor of Alaska, calling her the former governor or Governor Palin suggests that she completed a term.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Palin herself started the "Palin divorce" story (she's now gone on the record denying it as a "rumor"), just so she could denounce it as untrue. After her speech last week about "What to expect in the media", it seems to me that there's something coming down the pike that she knows is going to sink her.

My belief is that amidst a flurry of rumors, all false, will be one that doesn't come from her camp but is the one she expected and what prompted her resigning as governor.
