"Call me, STAT! This is Dennis"

Well, that's one way to find out you are on Sarah Palin's enemies list. Yesterday morning, while working on my Shanta Claus projects and prepping for my television show, Dennis Zaki called. He and Jesse Gryphen of the Immoral Minority, had driven to Sarah Palin's Wasilla book signing. Why? Well, it's like storm chasers in Nebraska...only they're train-wreck chasers. Me? Well, I'm busy these days and have had Palin fatigue since before most people have even heard of her.

Don't get me wrong...Thanks Sarah! It's just that I really wasn't interested. Two weeks ago, I had press privileges at her book signing at Elmendorf AFB that was closed to the public. On that day, I was busy figuring out if my hair was oily, normal or dry. Truth be told, I'm just not that into her.

Dennis and I have been friends since the Corrupt Bastards Club Trials. He's one of my favorite Hardy Boys. I met Gryph last year; we fight about half the time...the rest we spend laughing. I'll ask Sarah Palin to sign my copy of Going Rogue after it wins the National Book Award for best fiction...it's richly deserving. Besides, I'm having the "Under the Bus" folks sign it instead; John Bitney, Anne Kilkenny, Andrew Halcro, Lyda Green, Walt Monegan, Trooper Wooten, etc. It's just more honest.

Gryphen and Zaki were booted from the event. My name was on the list to boot if I showed. There's a fourth unknown and unwelcomed guest..who could it be? My guess? Jeanne Devon. Oh, yeah, fellas...the troops are fighting for Palin's right to ban us from a public event!

When the Anchorage Daily News reported on the "Homecoming" event for Palin with the "flocking" of 750 people to the "public" event at the publicly funded Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center with the publicly funded Wasilla Police Officers working security, they made a tiny mention of the bumped bloggers. Nearly 2,000 people showed up for an indoor football game earlier this year at the same complex. Twice as many citizens of Wasilla have become members of the Mat Su Valley Sportsman's Association as showed up for Sarah Palin's glorious homecoming. In "Real America" Palin attracted thousands of teabaggers. In "Real Alaska," the tea bagger capitol and Palin's hometown, there were more people shopping at Wal*Mart.

The ADN also failed to mention that H1N1 virus vaccines were also being administered at the same time as the book signing. Good Lord, if only there were a vaccine for Palin's word salad.

Whoopie Flippin' Doooo! Hell of a homecoming, did she get another crown?

You could find out what Alaskans really think of Sarah coming home judging by the comments on the Anchorage Daily News website...Oh wait...the ADN decided to ban public comments on the article.

Dennis Zaki, Linda Kellen-Biegel, Jeanne Devon and myself all passed the White House Security checks to attend the "closed to the public"troops only speech by President Obama a few weeks ago. The only threat to Sarah Palin by the Alaska Bloggers is the truth. Yes, it's scary.

I guess "Real Alaskans" aren't allowed near an "author" who once asked a librarian if she'd ban books. Oh, the irony...or is it ion-ry...either way, I've been Palibanned!

If she hurries up she can make it to this conference in Sitka, once called the "Paris of the East" by the Russian settlers in Alaska. Original film of "cabin fever" I remember they made, in the silent film era, the cabin had a tunnel under it, out to the river bank it was on. Sat on the roof in the spring! I worked for the NPS around the original location and the current location of the Captain Moore Cabin in Skagway, Alaska right after Mt. St. Helens exploded. I met a school teacher on his way to Homer, Alaska years ago, there I think. Hope he did well!

Sitka NP to sponsor Conference

Until the U.S. purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867, the Russian empire owned this part of North America. For nearly 100 years, the Russians called Sitka their Alaskan capital. Celebrating this aspect of Sitka's past, on August 18-22, 2010, Sitka NHP and the International Association of Specialists on the Study of Russian America will co-sponsor the 4th International Conference on Russian America, at Sitka. The conference follows those held in Sitka in 1979 and 1987 and in Irkutsk, Russia in 2007. A formal call for papers will be issued soon.

Sarah Palin's strong points include acting like Tammy Faye Baker. I would be censored if I said the other one.

supertim: She is still speaking at that fundraiser, still collecting her fee. The only difference is that the proceeds will go to another charity.

Point is though: she accepted the $$$$$ initially to raise funds for 'socialist hospitals that perform abortions and give end of life counseling' .... so we know that Sarah's values are up for sale,, at the right price.

It wasn't HER decision to change the beneficiary of the fundraiser.

I told one of her Palinbots this last week, and he said I was LYING.

Her followers are so deluded and uninformed!

thanks for clearing that up, i knew that the hospital board had received some sixty complaints, and decided that her appearance would be troublesome, so i assumed she would collect the money and pull a no show, that would seem to be in keeping with her past behaviour, namely Wardrobegate

Somehow, Shannyn, I think you are counted among a lucky few who are spared having to endure Palin's babble in person.

Actually, no. According to the Pew Research Center, Alaskans are some what LESS likely than the US average to self-identify as being affiliated with an organized religion; and are divided among the political parties and persuasions about the same as the rest of the country.

The Palinists just make a lot of noise. Don't mistake their blather for a consensus among Alaskans. We're a whole lot harder than that to categorize.

Self-identify. There's the rub.

There are plenty of self proclaimed Independents that are really rabid, right wing Republicans.

There should have been video tape taken at all her signings so that those who collect unemployment and were lined up, should have their payment reduced in that they were not job searching. Better still, their unemployment should be cut off as a book signing is frivolous and taxpayers should not be responsible to pay them to stand in line all day.

SarahPac and the Alaskan Fund Trust are still accepting contributions.

That makes her a panhandler. Or grifter. Take your pick.

Her family gets healthcare because her husband is a native American and Alaska gives oil subsidies to all residents. So she's also a socialist.

Her family gets healthcare because her husband is a Native American? So, they're healthcare is paid for by the government? Does her palinista's know this? What a Hypocr!te.

In my blog, I ask: WHY does Palin fear the Press??? www.archivist.blogspot.com

An Alaska blogger, Celtic Diva gives us a clue, maybe??? Apparently there were people there, at this tightly controlled event, who were handing out magazines with President Obama as Hitler ........ http://divasblueoasis.com/

No wonder Sarah doesn't want 'the press' there, Middle America doesn't look kindly on that!

I wonder what ELSE goes on there, out of sight of the press ........ Witch Exorcisms maybe??? Anything is possible with Sarah!

sorry .. got the URL wrong!

www.archivist1000.blogspot.com

Let's hope this story gets attention now .... Sarah's book signing was strictly controlled, according to a comment on The Frontiersman, Sarah's mom actually walked around approving the 'signs' carried ........ so someone with a photoshopped President Obama to look like Hitler, WAS approved by Sarah.

Celtic Diva has an eyewitness account up from the signing in Wasilla yesterday. Some seriously whacked people.

removing signs if they had a dissenting viewpoint or in one case, the URL of a website that often takes Palin to task for the things she says.

What was most shocking in Celtic Diva's report (from a fellow Alaskan, Kim Chatman, who went, saw, was in the line, and was not ejected) is the witnessing of a man --apparently with the approval of the Palins and their security detail -- handing out literature "with President Obama pictured as Hitler. Kim said she'd never heard so many "Nazi" references involving President Obama in her life and as a veteran she was outraged. It seemed to her that between the "Conservative Patriots" and this whack job, the TRUE Palin followers had full control of this event."

How far do people have to go in anti-government behavior before they edge over into treason? It's strange enough reading that people who employ Nazi-like tactics in a public event in a public facility -- no matter who paid for the venue, which was only part of the entire building complex -- would be bandying around the word "Nazi" to describe the people they're persecuting.

Or maybe not so strange. Isn't that how dictatorships and totalitarian regimes get started? -- project your own illegal and treasonous behavior onto the other guys?

That's disgusting. Has anyone told Harper Collins about this being allowed to go on at an event that they supposedly arranged? With pictures too, if any can be had?

Banning opposition press is just silly now - it won't fly if she runs for office. She only wants her fan club to be allowed within the charmed circle of her presence - no problem. But if public funds were used to enforce this, she's in the wrong. The publisher rented the space, giving them justification to claim that it was not a public event, and thus they could "disinvite" anyone they want to. But who were the police paid by? Wasilla Recreation and Cultural Services Manager Hastings was there - not unusual, since the sports center comes under his department - he's got a reason to be there. But why was he at the press sign-in table? And if he was worried that the crowd was so hostile toward press members who don't shake pom-poms for Palin, why hold the press members responsible, and ban them? Shouldn't the blame be on the Palinists if they take hostile action?

Sorry, Mrs. Palin - people who want to be taken seriously in American politics have to face their opponents head-on. Yes, even the ones who are perky, or make jokes, or draw cartoons you don't like. And especially, the ones who ask tough questions. You can only make those "for the good of others" excuses for so long.

Any bets on who she will blame this on? Oh, the publishers made that decision - she would never try to limit press access. Sign on Mrs. Palin's desk: "The Buck Stops Anywhere

How did a half-wit like this ever get any attention by the media?
04:51 PM on 12/23/2009
If you haven't noticed, the media have stopped being investigative journalists and have turned to taboid trash instead. They don't bother to fact check anything that woman says (heck, you can Google just about anything she says and find a contradiction).
And half wit? You give way too much credit.
