Palin's Foreign Policy: " We Win! They Lose!" Obama's: "Peace"

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The tickets were free. Michael Reagan and Sarah Palin...dream team for liberals' nightmare.

I don't care for the politics of either, but more than that, I consider them both dangerous.

Sarah Palin held her anti-choice stance up like the Lion King baby after her RNC speech last fall. Michael Reagan suggested the remarkably late late term abortions of children with the name Hezbollah via hand grenade. In August of 2006, Reagan said of such named children, "You know what I'd get 'em for a first birthday? I'd put a grenade up their butts and light it. Happy birthday, baby. Bye bye." When a caller suggested infants are not responsible for their given names, he stated, "So what's wrong with killing the mothers and the babies?"

Nice guy. What is that? Seven trimesters?

Last June, Reagan, again on his radio talk show, went off on an activist sending letters and DVDs about 9/11 to soldiers. He stated on air, "We ought to find the people who are doing this, take them out and shoot them. Really. You take them out, they are traitors to this country, and shoot them. You have a problem with that? Deal with it. You shoot them. You call them traitors, that's what they are, and you shoot them dead. I'll pay for the bullets. How about you take Mark Dice out and put him in the middle of a firing range. Tie him to a post, don't blindfold him, let it rip and have some fun with Mark Dice."

Nice guy. What is that? One hundred and twenty four trimesters?

I didn't really want to attend the double header event of Sarah Palin and Michael Reagan. I feel weird watching a train wreck I didn't even buy a ticket to. Not only was the governor in attendance, but Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell, former Lieutenant Governor Loren Leman, Representative Bob Lynn, Alaska Republican Party Leader Randy Ruderich, and "First Dude" Todd Palin. Not my crowd. The opening DJ called Democrats the "swine flu" on the country. Awkward.

I was detected early by a local republican shock jock who yelled "THE LIBERAL IS HERE." I might have responded with something snarky, but since he brags about packing a gun, thought better. His "compensator caliber" has bullets.

Ronald Reagan worshippers lined up. I kept wondering why Ronald Reagan's wife was schmoozing with President Obama, and his son was schmoozing with Sarah Palin. His father's statue was unveiled in Washington DC this week, and he's thousands of miles away in Alaska. Why? What could he brag about? The fall of the Berlin Wall? OK, but what about the negligence of China? The twenty year anniversary of Tiananmen Square is tomorrow. Could he have helped? Or considering the Contras founding fathers of Nicaragua? That didn't work out. What about the funding of the Taliban who years later turned on America; September 11? Would Michael Reagan tear down this lie?

I'd have to wait.

Sarah Palin, in short skirt and bright red platform sandals was up first. She seemed to be in an Adderall cloud. Her speech was sixteen minutes of redundance. Part cheer leader, part gladiator. She went after Obama, saying "we should never apologize." Her foreign policy was summed up like a cheerleader captain chanting, "They Lose! We Win!" I was waiting for the "Ready? Okay!" Pom-poms, anyone?

She talked about not wanting to be "P.C."; saying "screw political correctness." In a radio interview almost a year ago she assured me, "Oh, Shannyn, you know I'm not very P.C." When has Sarah ever been politically correct? She then pulled out her tin foil hat theories on the "liberal media."

Tonight she repeatedly said, "I'm not going to sit down, I'm not going to shut up." So many times I wanted her to sit down. I wanted her to shut up.

Palin, in all her rah-rah over Reagan, didn't talk much about him. Her own ethics board had dismissed a charge against her earlier, and she gloated. She didn't mention the Alaska Democratic Caucus voting to over ride her veto on the federal stimulus funds. The governor's focus was on the evils of Washington DC; it made me wonder why she's thrown everyone under the bus to get an office there.

I left early. So did Sarah. She's on her way to New York. Walking out of the "crowd" of 400, Mudflats, Gryph and I shook like dogs dragging out of a swamp.

Michael Reagan's grateful heart for adoption from the Reagans and not the Carters was weak. His slams on his siblings reeked of "dysfunctional family values." I found him broken in spirit and truth. I found him vulgar in history; his violent charges against people who he disagrees with. His terroristic encouragement over public airwaves angered me at the time, and after this week, I am relieved he is leaving his radio career.

Michael Reagan's new mission is to reshape the Republican party.

He thinks Sarah Palin is the future of his father's party.

I can only hope. I may be the only person who watched Sarah Palin give a speech tonight in Anchorage, and President Obama deliver his live to the world from Cairo.

Palin's message; "We Win! You Lose! "

Obama's message; "The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God's vision. Now, that must be our work here on Earth. Thank you. And may God's peace be upon you."

I have political whiplash.

Dennis Zaki has provided audio of Palin's speech.

So the new motto is shill, baby, shill?

What I'd like to know is why we still care what Governor Palin does. Seriously. A former vice presidential candidate and governor of a single state does not rate this much news coverage. What other state governors get this kind of love? I don't even the Governator gets as much. And when have we ever hung so much on the words of the losing VP candidate?

I keep trying to ignore her, and hoping she'll go away, because she never seems to have much to contribute to the conversation except to epitomize everything that we're fortunate to be rid of from the last administration.

The only threat Palin poses is to the Democrats' lust for power at any cost. Read these posts carefully...all any anti-Palin radical does is go after her personally. There's a saying, "Those who can't argue issues go after the person." Disagree with her opinions, even dislike her but have some self-respect & at least try to formulate intelligent debate. Snarls, whines & meows are as unattractive as they are shallow.

She would have to form a cogent stance on an actual issue before your suggestion would work.

i read the transcript of SP's "introduction" to the staggering crowd of 400 shortly after our President addressed the world (trust me, the whole world was listening), and one phrase instantly sprung to mind when comparing the content of Obama's speech to Palin's: "Hyperion to a satyr." Sarah, your ambition outweighs your intellect, and i look forward to 2012.

If she had no ambition whatsoever, it would STILL outweigh her intellect.

What are you afraid of Booboo111? You can't debate issues? Do you even have an opinion or are personal insults your forte?

The deep violence, divisiveness and downright ugliness of people like Palin and Reagan are hard to take. Other than a minority in the US, I think the rest of the country, and the rest of the first world anyway, are living in a new paradigm. We can no longer afford to be naive; black and white; us against them; good against evil. They live in fairy-tale land. We need a nuanced approach. Someone with intelligence, to understand the complexities of foreign relations. The US has someone like that in office now, and I don't think people will be tempted to go backwards. It's pretty much only the hic, uneducated, women-hating, gun-totin' right wing-nuts that go for this now. And the small group of white men who have become wealthy picking our pockets. It's become fringe.

And just to show you how far Palin will go to make sure only her opinions are put forth... Palin has just fired her Public Health Director, Beverly Wooley.
Sarah can't have people educating people about ' sex education and family planning '.
(If she did.... Bristol wouldn't have Baby Tripp)
-----------------------------------------------------
"Today the employees of the Alaska Division of Public Health learned that their Director, Beverly Wooley, was forced to resign, or was fired, by Governor Palin. The Director's position is an appointed position, however, to my knowledge, a Director of Public Health has never before been fired. No one is certain why Bev was fired, however most speculate that it was around differences of opinion about womens' health. Public Health is quite active in issues related to family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, sex education, and other issues that the Governor does not support. Bev, on the other hand, has been a strong advocate for womens' health, both when she was the the Director of the Municipality of Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services, and also in her role as Director of the Alaska Division of Public Health (DPH)."

So much for looking out for the welfare of Alaskans. You seem a little 'spiteful '....Sarah..?

Shannyn, I am forever thankful for people like you who can give us an inside view to what this woman is really all about. It is so needed! Everytime she opens her mouth she seems to be unpatriotic, hateful and doing a disservice to Alaska, and America!!

Shannon, you could have been out enjoying 70 degrees of sunshine, yet you ventured into the darkness of Sarah Palin and Michael Reagan. Thank you. Happy you survived!

"Screw political correctness", eh? I believe Palin already knows quite a bit about that, as well as throwing out any other form of correctness in general. The only thing that matters is Sarah, Sarah, Sarah--oh, and the drama--oh, oh,, oh, and the lies, manipulation, partial truths, intimidation and vindictiveness just plain ol' stupidity. She is the center of her very own little bubble-enclosed universe. Wonder who will burst her bubble? There seems to be quite a few in line.

Michael, you are irrelevant and without a civilized conscience, lacking any thoughtful or meaningful reflection.

Illusions/ delusions of grandeur are entertained by both these very sad people; however, there is absolutely no semblance of “grandeur“ or grace or honor about them at all.

I love how you democrats are distracting yourselves by even paying attention to any republican. Let’s face it, both the republican and democratic parties have had their chances at running this country and how come things are so screwed up? It is time for a whole new party to take control and bulldoze DC into the ocean.

Democrats have spent the last 8 ½ years attacking and this article is yet another example proving you don’t know how to do anything else.

You don’t have to worry about the republicans or who is going to save the republicans. It is WE THE PEOPLE you need to be concerned about. We will vote the socialists out of office once Uhbama’s policies kick in. I highly recommend that you stop attacking anyone and tune up your defensive skills – you’re going to need them.

Question for you all - how much of your incomes are you willing to give via income tax and is your budget prepared for higher energy bills to ensure that Uhbama and his policies are a success? And don’t just be thinking about yourself – what about all the middle class that are struggling today and cannot afford one more dime of any kind of tax – not to mention if they even have a job in the first place.

No ReaganTMan, you are wrong. The world has changed, and Ronnie could not get elected today.

Of course, he was the first step to lead us down economic ruin, and the destruction of the middle class.

If Palin is the future of the GOP, then be prepared to be out of the majority for a good long time.

it pains me to have to point out the obvious (it's not evolution, just a bit of old-fashioned genetics)...Michael was adopted. there is no Reagan in him. he did not "inherit" any attributes from his adopted father. by contrast, Ron Reagan Jr. who has inherited half his genes from President Reagan, is a DEMOCRAT...a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT...just like his genetic sister...his LIBERAL DEMOCRAT GENETIC SIBLING. so what does it mean when the biological offspring of the Conservative icon both turn out to be Liberals, but the adopted sibling is a raging lunatic who considers himself the true heir to their father's legacy? is there a therapist out there who can weigh in on this one?

You wrote a lot about Michael Reagan and since I don't have the stomach to follow the right wingnuts, well, I'm now sick to my stomach again. Bravo for your ability to stare in the face of revulsion. I don't think Michael's family would be or are proud of what he's become. I could never imagine Ronnie saying the things this man says even if he thought it. Michael is classless as well as violently demented. With push like that behind Sarah Palin, she might get somewhere. I'm not sure where . . . but, remember, she was inciting crowds during the campaign towards Obama. We think it can only happen somewhere else. But, I'm in Philadelphia, and we recently had two mobs come together at flash-point through texting.Inciting violence on others can happen faster than ever. As a nation, we have to be wary. Maybe it's time to take the way right more seriously and push back. (In a civilized manner).

Presumably, while reaching out in peace to the Muslim world--which I applaud--President Obama, at the same time, is aiming to ensure that the US and its allies "win" in the war against Al Queda, and that the terrorists "lose". Governor Palin is expressing the exact same position. On other matters such as the stimulus package and the possibility of damaging the diverse autonomy of States, one may respectfully diagree with the Governor, but she raises, and is entitled to raise, perfectly legitimate questions.

Of course - and I believe Obama would welcome legitimate questions on spending the stimulus funds. I don't recall any other point of view put forward other than "tax cuts" and "no".

Is it even worth pointing out to Madam Governor that NONE of the stuff she complains about was anything Obama wanted?

That Bush punted General Motors, AIG, banks-too-big-to-fail, and state budgets in epic shortfall to the next administration?

Keep going, Sarah! You're doing great!

In fairness, Governor Palin was not defending Bush and was on record favouring the bankruptcy route for GM from the beginning. Palin has few friends on the Republican Right, particularly the Big Government types.
