WATCH: 60 Seconds of Social Media

Posted: 06/01/2012 6:23 pm

If you've chatted online while watching television, you're in good company. A lot of it, in fact. We'll take a look at the explosive growth of social TV in the latest episode of "60 Seconds of Social Media" from Amos Content Group.

But social TV isn't just about Tweeting along with the show anymore. Now programs are inviting users to interact and even help drive content.

And far from contributing to the much-predicted demise of broadcast television, social media might just be TV's savior. TVGuide.com General Manager Christy Tanner told Ad Age last fall that a survey of 10,000 TV fans revealed 20 percent of them are actually watching more live TV, to avoid seeing spoilers on social media.

Next week, we'll have a special report on social media and games, as E3, the gaming industry's premiere trade event, wraps up in downtown Los Angeles.

And you can catch up with last week's episode right here.
