Online Retailers Prepare for Cyber Monday, Big Deals: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer November 24, 2008

Online retailers are expected to offer extra promotions on the Monday after Thanksgiving to help boost sales. Known as "Cyber Monday", a survey done by Shop.org, says that 83.7% of e-tailers will have special promotional deals next Monday. Executive director of Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation said, "Due to the economic circumstances, it's extremely competitive for every dollar somebody's going to spend."

Summit Entertainment's Twilight took in $70.6 million to top the Box Office this week. The film, which ran 3,419 times, bested the Quantum of Solace, whose box office take fell 59% from its opening weekend. The producers of Twilight, which cost $37 million to make, have already announced plans for a sequel.

The FCC has asked the Supreme Court to restore a $550,000 fine against CBS over the Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction. The fine over the incident, which occurred nearly 5 years ago, was thrown out by an Appeals court in August. Analysts believe that the FCC is shining light on the case in the last days of the Bush Administration in order to set future precedent before President elect Obama takes office.

The NFL is set to broadcast a game in 3-D. The December 4th contest between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders will be shot in 3-D and shown in movie theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Boston. The game will be a live broadcast, shot by 3ality Digital and displayed on Real D 3D's theatrical platform.
