Twitter Going After Spammers: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer October 14, 2009

Twitter is helping users with Spam problems by allowing them to report suspected spam accounts. Users have been vocal in their annoyance of spam followers and the lack of protection from spam accounts by Twitter's security network. As the micro-blogging service grows, keeping spammers out will become an even greater concern.

Bloomberg LP is set to acquire BusinessWeek. Sources say Bloomberg will pay $2 to $5 million for the publication. Despite suffering from a decreased ad rates and a drop in subscriptions, Bloomberg President Dan Doctoff affirmed that Bloomberg is "buying it to build it," as the BusinessWeek brand could brighten its new parent company's television network.

Brett Farve is the new ratings darling of the NFL. The first Vikings/Packers game of the season was the most watched cable program in history. Since Sunday afternoon games almost always finish-up in primetime, the league has flip-flopped the Giants-Eagles game with Vikings/Packers on November 1st. For industry insiders, it will be interesting to see how much bigger, or smaller, the ratings are on Fox.

Nokia revealed its first foray into the netbook market yesterday. The stylish Booklet 3G's most striking feature is its 12-hour battery life. The Nokia Booklet 3G will exclusively available at Best Buy before the holiday shopping season begins and will retail for $599 without a wireless plan, or $299 with a two year, $60/month wireless data plan from AT&T.

Despite signs that its market had improved, Intel reported that sales fell 7.8% during the third quarter. While the world's largest chip manufacturer posted loses in revenue, sales and profit, Intel CEO Paul Otellini remained confident that the "momentum in the current market climate" will help Intel rebound from the recession and increase sales of computer chips.
