Twitter to Provide Real Time Location of Tweets: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer August 21, 2009

Twitter is set to begin acknowledging the exact location of where tweets come from. The micro-blogging service will include the latitude and longitude of tweets in real time. Co-Founder Biz Stone said "We have a strong hunch location will be a compelling and useful feature."

Amazon, Microsoft and Yahoo have joined to fight Google's recent book settlement. The collective contends that Google's deal raises major copyright concerns. For Amazon, who has a handle on the eBook market, the deal could be dangerous, cutting profits, as Google's offering will be free to users.

Sirius XM are set to begin manufacturing iPhone docks capable of broadcasting satellite radio. The company recently started offering iPhone streaming to subscribers, but the service is minimal and requires a wireless connection. If Sirius built its own dock, it could transmit its satellite signal directly to the dock connected to an iPhone or iPod touch.

The FCC is beginning its investigation of wireless industry competition issues. The goal is to make the market free for competition by limiting exclusivity deals between providers and manufacturers. The FCC is also in the midst of investigating Apple's deal with AT&T.

Salesforce.com posted quarterly profits more than double its earnings year over year. The cloud computing system earned $21.2 million for the quarter, proving that its business was recession proof. The Street responded positively, with shares up 9% at the end of the day.
