If you're sick of high movie prices due to 3D movies, sorry, it's only going to get worse. During our Real Time Conversation on the What's Trending live show, Avatar producer Jon Landau said that 3D isn't over: In fact, it's just beginning to take over. And, if you factor in how long it took for color to catch on, we still have a while to go.

That being said, Landau recognized that no matter how "cool" 3D looks, it will never replace a good story. (Writer's note: Please pay attention to that last statement Michael Bay.) According to Landau, it should always be a director's choice -- not the studios -- to decide if he or she wants to venture in that dimension. I mean, as someone brought up in the chatroom, yeah Godfather in 3D might bring in money, but is it really necessary? However, Drive Angry in 3D? Completely necessary.

Here's how you feel about 3D:

Richard Greenfield of Wall Street's BTIG, reported that 3D actually hurt Pirates of the Caribbean 4, one of the biggest movies of the year. Greenfield states that with only 38 percent of the film's 90 million opening weekend coming from non-IMAX 3D screens, if the film had made more 2D screens available, quote "overall attendance would have been higher." Pre-sales for the final Harry Potter in 2D are also drastically outpacing the 3D version. Upcoming 3D films include this weekends Cars 2, Dark of the Moon (for which director Michael Bay enlisted the help of James Cameron), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, comic-book adventure Captain America, and Pixar's Cars II. All are also available in 2D, for those who prefer it.
