Questions Mount About White House's Overly Rosy Report On Oil Spill

Questions Mount About White House's Overly Rosy Report On Oil Spill

“I’ve been away for several months – was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. Did the surgery (lumpectomy & nodes) chemo and radiation so now we wait and hope! Although, I haven’t felt up to commenting; I’ve be keeping up with the news whenever possible and this news is discouraging but not at all surprising. Corporations own and run this country and I don’t know if there is a whole lot any of us can do about it at this point in time – including President Obama. Presidents have very little power over the giant corporations (big oil, big Pharma, the insurance giants, etc. Most of Congress has been bought off – all the Republicans! The so called MSM has allowed FOX NOISE and right wing talk radio to reign superior to satisfy the ignorant and there are way too many ignorant Americans. So all we can do is keep fighting, voicing our opinions, voting and letting Congress know how we feel, which I will continue to do. But is it too late?”

“Any middle class “anyone” who even thinks of voting for a Repub should have their head examined. But unfortunately, they will. A lot of it is pure hate. But most of it is ignorance in the true sense of the word – not knowing. My own 46 year old Jewish daughter is a perfect example.

I and her late Father were always registered Democrats. When she and her now 50 year old brother became of voting age; they registered as Democrats and always voted as such. My daughter’s first choice in the Primary last year was Hillary. When Senator Obama won, she got all caught up in Sister Sara – I guess because she’s a woman and wound up voting for McCain. When I found out, I was totally disgusted and I’m sure her Father took some spins in his grave.

She knows nothing about Politics, she’s not and never has been prejudice in any way shape or form; she doesn’t watch Fox Noise or listen to Radio Talk. She’s not a reader and has very little patience. She is a huge fan of Howard Stern and never misses his show, go figure? I think it all comes back to true ignorance – not knowing and not taking the time to find out!

I was diagonosed with breast cancer last October and being almost 70 years old now have move in with my daughter. She's still a registered Democrat but she won't discuss her vote or politics with me.”

Too Big to Block? Why Obama Must Stop the Comcast-NBC Merger

“Fair and Balanced? The media powers that be really have some of you brainwashed! It would be nice to live in a perfect world where everything is in its place – the good people over here and the bad people over there. But that’s not going to happen. Not everything has to be “fair and balanced”. It’s okay for networks and stations to offer differing views. Being truthful would be nice but that’s gone too. The problem is that too few offer liberal/progressive views. Most programming is either right wing or CNNish, which leans right and that’s all by design. So I’m going to keep asking, where are all the liberal/progressive corporate folks? They do exist. Why aren’t they buying up stations and networks? Why can’t Oprah or someone like her be our liberal Rupert Murdock? Oh, that’s right, how silly of me to forget – Oprah and liberal/progressive’s like her are corporate folks like Murdock!

My late husband was a democratic socialist and atheist who spoke truth to power. He was blacklisted off the air (radio talk) in the late 80’s by so-called liberal groups using the fairness doctrine so don’t believe for one minute that bringing the fairness doctrine back would help.”

Chelsea Clinton Engaged To Marc Mezvinsky

“I am a true liberal Democrat and have been most of my 69 years of life (since I was old enough to vote). I’m neither going to condemn the engagement or congratulate the happy couple. I’m simply going to call it as I see it. Just another example of keeping it in the family! Politics and Corporate America.

What baffles me is how these poor and middle class right wing nuts can be so ignorant as to allow their corporate masters to continue to have them believe that Democrats are Socialists? The Democratic powers that be are smart enough to throw the masses a bone periodically, hoping that if the natives ever decide to revolt; they’ll be spared. The Republican powers that be are too stupid to even realize that possibility.

As far as I’m concerned those of you who are posting, “keep politics out of this discussion and giving the couple big congratulatory speeches are as simple and uninformed as the wing nuts just not as bitter. You remind me of my daughter and her circle of friends going along singing, la de da de da as if the country has no problems. They all voted for Hillary and she got to be SOS so all is well!”

“Amazone, your comment is right on. But we can just hope that President Obama can do something big and important and wish him the best. We have to help him do something big and important. We have to keep the phone calls, emails and petitions flooding into Congress and the White House. Won’t hurt to let the corporate MSM know how we feel also when they spin the truth! ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC & C-SPAN (don’t waste your time with FOX)! The right wing is in the minority but they are bombarding Congress with phone calls and emails and even marching on Washington. This minority of right- wing nuts are scaring the living daylights out of the spineless Representatives and Senators. They’ve even got the Administration spooked with their vicious threats. Where are the majority of people who voted for President Obama? He not only has to fight the right-wing-nuts and their Republican masters -- he’s got to fight big Pharma, the big Insurance companies, big oil and the corporate MSM who wants to keep the status quo going strong. He needs more than just our good wishes – he needs our help. He needs millions of us to GET INVOLVED AND STAY INVOLVED.”

“Secretary Duncan, this “Fury” over President Obama speaking to school children is far worse than just “silly”. That’s the kind of spin the Republican Party and the MSM want us to swallow. It’s vicious hatred and it is not silly – it is very sad! Take it from this 69 year old white lady who was born and raised in the South but had sense enough to get out years ago. There is a song from South Pacific, “You’ve got to be taught to hate”. Children are not born to hate, they’ve got to be taught and these ignorant racist parents are spread throughout the country now poisoning their children’s minds. It’s high time the Administration started calling these hate mongers out for what they are instead of catering to them and the MSM with words such as “silly”! These people have no shame. They are never going to vote for you or even like you. I’m sickened and ashamed of you and the Administration for not speaking out boldly.”

“Someone commented here earlier that Mrs. Clinton earned the “respect” of the Republican Party. She didn’t! Although she tried very hard to “earn their respect” during her Presidential run; it didn’t work. But tell me, is “earning the RESPECT of the Republican Party” an honorable exercise? How does one earn the respect of those who have no respect for themselves or the Country? Who would want their respect?

It’s time for President Obama and the Democratic Party to stop trying. Jon Stewart summed up his commentary best when he scolded, “Yes we can -- unless you {Republicans & Corporate Special Interest Groups} don’t think we should - then we’ll try something else” I am one 69 year old life long Democrat who is tired of kissing up to the Grand Obstructionist Party! Doesn’t principle matter anymore? I’m tired of my Democratic Party compromising its principles away so they {Congress} can continue to fatten at the pig troth while the rest of us suffer.”

““DON’T LET ‘EM DO IT AGAIN”
I had my disagreements with Bill Clinton during the Democratic Primary but it was refreshing to hear him tell, “Progressives Not to Let Republicans Kill Heath Care Reform” “DON’T LET ‘EM TO IT AGAIN” was music to my tired old ears. I am 69 years old and I’ve watched Republicans with the help of big Insurance/Pharma kill health care reform for too many years while every other industrialized country protect their citizens with health care systems.

I would like to tell the Conservative Democrats to get their act together, stop catering to ignorance and support our President. Add Independents and any sane Republican (if there is any left) to President Clinton’s list and anyone who is intelligent enough to know that the SCARE TACTICS AND VICIOUS LIES that the neocons are feeding these ignorant right wing fringe groups! The smart people need to start speaking out now and continue to write and call Congress, TV networks and Cable stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC & C-SPAN) They will get the message! Forget FOX, it’s a lost cause! We have sat by and allowed a minority of ignorant loudmouths take over the debate. That is beginning to change so let’s keep up the good work.

I want a strong public option and will continue to fight for it. But I also want a Health Care Reform bill passed. Democrats and Independents who have any sense of decency left – get on board now.”

“I don’t know if this article is factual or not and frankly at this point in time; I don’t give a damn. Yes, health care is important to me and I want single payer health care or at least a strong public option. If the article is true, I’m not happy that President Obama might have to give up some things. After all, we do live in a for profit Capitalistic system, which neither political party wants to give up and apparently there aren’t enough of us willing to organize just to get a few progressive changes through to make the system better.

Presently, I’m more concerned that the very fiber of our Country is under attack right now and the attackers have the money, the airwaves and the guns and they are winning.

As a liberal Democrat, I’m more worried about the vicious lies and hatred being spread not only about health care but about our President and our Country. Our Country is full of ignorant people and the corporate interest boys are taking full advantage of them and making sure their well paid mouth pieces of right-wing hate keep their dumbed down followers organized. Liberal Democrats, intelligent Independents and sane Republicans (if there are any left) better wake up and realize that these people are at war with our Country and they are dangerous.”

“I don't know how one would go about this, but stories like the birther movement, Orly Taitz, Lou Dobbs, etc. They shouldn't be given airtime by MSM other than the outlet they started on, like Fox or CNN. Even HuffPo, by giving space to these stories on the front page, helps to makes these issues legitimate for discussion, which they are not. They're distractions, distractions meant to take our minds off health care, off the economy, off the unnecessary wars, off torture, off anything that is vitally important for us as a nation to thrive -- or even survive. I was seriously wondering why the heck anybody would pay a loon like Orly Taitz to spout out one word on any subject.

We have a lot of very smart Americans -- albeit on the decline -- but we don't listen to them.”

I have done my part as many of you have and will continue to do so. But too many of you have given up because you’re listening to the corporate MSM negative spin that a good bill is impossible. This has been carefully planned and it’s working. Certainly, there is much blame to go around - the Republicans, Big Insurance/Pharma and even some Democrats. But if EVERYONE in this Country who voted for President Obama called and emailed their Representatives and Senators every day and shut down their damn system; we’d see a different outcome.

People got all excited at election time for good reason and voted for the right person. But forget that he said he’d need our CONTINUED support. So they go on about their lives and leave that person to whirl in the wind against the status quo. One person cannot fight this fight alone. I don’t care how powerful he or she is.

The right wingers stay busy emailing and calling Congress, TV and Radio programs and blogging. They are in the MINORITY but they are organized against anything President Obama puts forward and sadly they are winning the fight! So don’t blame our President. “I’m directing my emails and phone calls to my Pennsylvania Congressmen/women (especially my Senators) and to the MSM pushing for a good Public Option to give the Insurance companies competition.

Seems to me, we’re all on different pages here. Some pushing for single payer, others pushing for a public plan! Threatening to vote them out of office isn’t going to scare them because they know that big Insurance and Pharma will give them enough money to buy their elections. Many of the Blue Dog Dems and Republicans are in safe districts anyway.

We don’t need them or the right wing Republicans in the Senate. If the House sticks to its guns and passes a good Public Option bill – we don’t need 60 votes in the Senate. So, I’m pushing big time with my phone calls and emails for the Senate (Harry Reid) to grow a pair and pass the bill with 51 votes. Enough with this bi-partisan nonsense, which will just give us a watered down piece of junk!

Unless we all get on the same page and mount a huge campaign to make thousands of phone calls and send thousands of emails to these jerks – we’ll be ignored! “It amazes me how quick the Conservatives try to put down Keith Olbermann whenever and where ever they get the chance on various Blogs. But their put down talking points are so weak they are pathetic. They consist of calling him names and worrying about his ratings! That’s all they have. But if he’s as ineffective as they say, why does the sight or sound of his name set them off? Maybe it’s because he is very effective and you Conservatives are afraid of him.

If his TV ratings are so poor, why then does FOX choose his show on which to advertise their shows? Those spots don’t come cheap so I’m sure MSNBC is glad to have the revenue so it’s okay with me. I don’t watch FOX but I expect this goes both ways. It’s called doing business – capitalist competition!

Although, doing so won’t stop your beloved FOX from giving MSNBC their advertising money or visa versa -- if you Conservatives are so dead set against Olbermann’s voice being heard or for that matter MSNBC being heard; you might want to demand that FOX stop wasting their money. “I’m a loyal Democrat and a Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) voter. I’m not a fan of Tom Ridge and would never vote for a Republican and that includes Arlen Specter. Putting a D beside his name doesn’t make him a Democrat! If he’s our only choice in Pennsylvania’s stupid closed Primary system; I’ll sit this one out. I have great respect for President Obama, VP Biden and Governor Rendell but I won’t be forced into voting for Arlen Specter. What are they thinking?

I don’t believe that the Republicans are smart enough to get behind Ridge. But if they wise up and do so, Ridge can beat Toomey in the Primary. Many independent minded Pennsylvania Democrats will switch back and register Republican to vote for Ridge in the Primary and he can beat Specter in the general election. Either way the Democrats will lose a Senator thanks to this back room political Specter deal. Because if anyone is naïve enough to believe that Specter will remain a Democrat if he does win don’t know Arlen Specter! He may keep the D beside his name if it suits his purpose because he's an opportunist. But he'll vote with the Republicans and Blue Dogs.”

He is not only too smart; he’s too nice a person to buck the Pennsylvania primary system and the turncoat our party is backing and there is little chance of getting this system changed. Joe Sestak is the true loyal Democrat but he couldn’t win with President Obama, VP Biden and Governor Rendell backing Specter. I respect these three men but I am extremely disappointed in their back room deal with Specter.

I too am a loyal Democrat and I worry that if Tom Ridge bucks Toomey in the Republican primary many independent minded Pennsylvania Democrats will re-register as Republicans to vote for the well liked Ridge. If Ridge wins the Primary and stays classy and away from the Club for Growth nuts; he can beat Specter in the general election, which means a loss of a Democratic Senator.

If Ridge wins the Republican primary and stays classy and away from the Club for Growth nuts; it will be difficult for Specter to beat him in a general election.

Although, Joe Sestak won’t have any party backing and it will be difficult for him to win a Primary. But if he runs; he’ll get my vote.”
