“Oh no you don't! dgrich is spot on. The nation may only have 7% in union work forces but the vast majority of that is in auto and teamsters.
GM union worker's benefits (pensions, health care, and on ad nauseum) were all made whole (meaning 100% covered) thanks to the bail out while more than 20,000 non-union workers and suppliers were tossed pennies on the dollar towards their pensions and healthcare, purposely getting totally screwed over by the bail out.
Then, adding insult to injury, the administration sought to have the courts deem the resulting lawsuit unworthy but a judge determined it viable and the suit to proceeds.
That's our President to a tee - picking winners and losers and he considered his campaign backers, the union, a winner.”

“The UAW had to assume the retirees health care and pensions in a settlement.
You are correct about Obama who has indeed been picking winners, mainly in the bank and financial industry who support and elected him.
Workers bees always end up broke, homeless, and unemployed.
Long story short. The auto companies know that within a decade, CHINA will dominate the US auto industry with low priced and tariff free cars under the latest Obama trade deals
“I agree with you in theory; parts supplies would have been affected but we can only speculate how seriously and none of them, dealing in bulk products of that magnitude would have been "mom and pop".”
“Starbucks CEO makes $29Million/yr and SB's employees average less than $9/hr. The CEO downplayed the "relevance of these figures".
At least Dollar General provides something solid or needed for that dollar instead of a cup of coffee which is temporary at best.
SB also subsidizes losing locations no matter how long it takes until it can kill off your local competition (ie, your friends, neighbors and business people).
Now there's a company Nader should be flogging! And the rest of you too! But you're too busy sipping your $5 non-fat decaf mocha latte cappuccino with cinnamon sprinkles while contributing towards a $29 Million salary and the destruction of your local economy!”
“Ben Franklin said "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
This so-called transparent administration, more opaque each day, and even its predecessor deserve to be feared and reigned in, not granted permission.”

“Yeah...someone else just claimed Jefferson was the author of that quote. Nevertheless...here's the deal...neither man had a clue what our planet would become in the 21st century when they spoke. We are very free here in the US. We are also very responsible and burdened by our voting choices. That isn't repression on "their" part. It is stupidity on "our" part. Both sides are guilty but today's conservatives are absolutely in control of the majority of stupid.”
“Got news for you LoC, more centrists and right watch The Five and O'Reilly, as well as shows like The Cycle, The Ed Show and Maddows than you'd imagine. Myself, I like to keep tabs on what the rabid left is talking about, more so what they're not talking about, any squirrel de jour and my favorite - the latest spin on the President's AHCA promises.”
“The problem is that instead of reaching out with a handful of entitlements he reached out with bootstrapping potential and tax breaks that keep the money local. That means hard work not hand out so it's doomed to failure right out of the gate.
Romney had a point when he said he didn't win because he hadn't dished out gifts.”

“So Mexico sells death traps to its citizens, who in turn may cross the US border whether on a one-day jaunt or moving here, and won't demolish its drug cartels sending their poison across the border too. And yet those who call for sealing the borders and strengthening its rules of access are called bigots. Shades of things that make you go hmmmmmm.”

“It's their revenge on the gringos who caused over 60,000 Mexican deaths related to the US's insatiable demand for illegal drugs.”

“Wow. You are far afield of what the subject is about. Seriously. This has nothing to do with drug cartels or border issues.”

“"Lopez, an Obama campaign adviser,...believe's the island's current economic crisis cannot be resolved until the Puerto Rico's status is."
Of course PR's economic crisis would be resolved: with federal funds from the US subsidizing its unemployment and every other budget they have. Their unemployment rate alone is currently 14.7 and continuously ticking upward.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics every 12 month percentage change has been an ever increasing negative and that's to everything: agriculture, construction, manufacturing, utilities, professional & business services, and health & eductional services.
I agree with any territory becoming a state but economic common sense should dictate that statehood not come at the expense of inflicting massive financial burden to the mainland's OWN ever increasing "current economic crisis".
But that's common sense the govt. doesn't understand the meaning of muchless the useage, so PR stands a great chance of joining the union and dumping some of it "current economic crisis" onto others.”
“Yeah well considering how long Detroit has leaned left that typical republican response is spot on in this case. Kwame Kilpatrick and his ilk have for decades lined their own and their cronies pockets and slithered in lockstep with the unions in granting them what they demand: ever higher wages and more and better benefits and pensions, no matter how bad the auto market was, the city's economy or how low the city's resources.
Republican scandals usually revolve around sex. Democrat scandals typically involve stealing, tax evading or cheating money-wise,”

“"Most of the pundits were predicting that we were going to lose a huge number of members, and we're not," Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the head of the Democratic National Committee, told The Huffington Post.
And you didn't only because the President headed them off at the pass by speaking publicly the day before the vote and turned the tide with his arbitrary decision to ignore (part of) yet another law.”
“The link for the article said that the Starbuck's CEO took home almost $29 Million last year and people see him as a "progressive executive" supporting gay marriage and no guns allowed in SB's.
It also said that SB's employees average less than $9/hr and that the jerk downplayed the "relevance of these figures".
Totally guessing he worked 6 dys/wk, 12 hr days, that's about $8,000.00 PER HOUR. Gee, I guess you really don't need a gun to rob people! (i.e., working poor).
I quit giving SB my money when my local newspaper did an article on how their SOP is that everywhere SB opens up, HQ will subsidize that location no matter how long it takes until it can kill off the local competition and survive on its own. That is not a business practice I will ever help support, I don't care how much I like their product.”

“A town where I lived actually put 3 SBs out of business. We just stopped going there. You can do it too.”
“"The plan had been to leave the increase in place until inflation caught up through annual adjustments to SNAP benefit levels, which had been expected to happen in 2015. But congressional Democrats essentially raided the cookie jar, using the future planned spending to offset the cost of priority legislation in 2010. They said at the time that they would put the money back before any decrease could take effect, but they have not kept their promise."
Democrats caused this. Place blame where it belongs, not squirrels.”
“Well put and what a box that it requires it's tenant view everything with overwhelming narrowmindedness. I once likened atheists demanding removal of Christmas decorations to Puritans, they didn't want anybody to have fun. Different boxes, same narrowminded view.”

“more likely that you criticize that which you don't understand because you are amongst the brainwashed mass,. BTW no one is doing more to ruin christmas than retailers. Having to listen to x-mas carols even before Halloween is what is turning people against it.”
