“Would be good to donate to NARAL too.

http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/

I have started donating direct to those who take a stand. So If I had your representative, I'd donate to NARAL and tell them to go to them for my donation.

I tell some to go to MoveOn and HRC and beg them for my money.

You should remain active in the Democratic party to get these people replaced.”

“When it comes to sending US jobs overseas, then we have to have "free trade."

But when it comes to helping working Americans buy the drugs they need, THEN WE CANNOT HAVE FREE TRADE AND HAVE TO PRACTICE PROTECTIONISM.

Obviously they are just doing the bidding of their big pharma corporate masters.

I don't want to hear another word about "free trade."

Bring the jobs home or let us buy drugs from anywhere.”

I like that, and I support that.
Thank you”

“The 60 vote rule is a procedural rule the senate can change at any time.

Or could go into budget reconciliation. You can pass a bill in budget reconciliation with only 50 votes and the VP to break the tie.

The Republicans passed Medicare Part D (aka enormous gift to big pharmaceutical companies) in reconciliation with less than 60 votes.

They could change the filibuster rule to how it was like in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" where you have to stand up and actually talk the entire time of the filibuster. It is totally abused as is.

They could start playing hard ball since kowtowing to everyone is not working.”

tazmodious replied on Dec 17, 2009 at 04:22:26

“The health care reform bill is not in the budget proposal. Even if we did try the reconcillition process when will we have time to go through this process before the next election in November? How can we even be assured that their will be 50 Senators willing to partake in this process?

Dr. Dean is willing to take this enourmous risk, yet he's not even a congressperson. He can talk all he wants from the sidelines because he faces no risk.”

fifteen pounds replied on Dec 17, 2009 at 04:20:45

“Harry Reid is unqualified and unfit as a majority leader...worse than Daschle...LBJ would have had an up and down vote and stil managed to get 66 votes....our senators are weak and corrupt....that is the real problem here...they can refuse to allow a filibuster if they really wanted to....”

“You think that isn't going to happen anyway? They pulled out the reversal of the exemption from Sherman Antitrust Act regulation which means they can continue to operate as a price fixing monopoly / oligopoly. No competition.

Also demand for health care is inelastic, meaning you will pay any price, particularly when your life is in danger, so, law of supply and demand do not work here.”

“One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Private health insurance companies will be just a vile and criminal in the future as they are now if there is not public option to compete with.

They violate existing laws and will violate future laws. The only way to force reform on this is to make them compete with a public option that is focused on care not on profit.

That you are willing to face the real probablility that we won't have a chance to pass any kind of health care reform in the future. That you are willing to let the costs of health care skyrocket beyond the affordablity of more and more people every year forward.
