Is 'Breaking Amish' Fake? TLC Addresses Rumors That Reality Show Is Staged

Is 'Breaking Amish' Fake? TLC Addresses Rumors That Reality Show Is Staged

Commented Sep 28, 2012 at 19:56:30 in TV

“My family is from a very small Amish town in NY, and the first time I saw this show, I saw five minutes of it and turned it off out of anger. First off, Amish people believe that if their picture is taken, it will steal their soul... so why, after having been raised believing that, would they agree to be on TV?! Not to mention that their family members have visited on the show... it just wouldn't happen. While some events seem like they could be true, as we've seen what some Amish do when they leave, like Rumspringa and such, it is just so clearly fake. I always viewed TLC as one of the only networks that had good, wholesome shows on it, but now that they're playing this crap "reality" TV, it's impossible to avoid it! Not to mention that they didn't even do their research before airing it...”
