“Well of course they don't. But he's not claiming he was raped. He's claiming his dad was (and to some extent, his sisters had some problem with assault). So he's very "sensitive" right?
Oh wait, he's not sensitive at all.”

“Exactly Barbara.. No one that has witnessed the horrors of sexual abuse would make a skit that mocks the victims . I also take note that he only came out with this when he got backlash for the tasteless skit.. I don't know what is worse the skit OR the fact that Beck would use his dead father as an excuse for his going over the line.. I would LOVE to see what Beck's mother or sisters had to say about his skits and excuses.. As for the tears.. Vicks does that..”
“Sorry, but sex education should be about sex alone. That's what they're teaching... sex function, etc.
Morals and values are something you should be taught by all the people in your life, and it's a highly informal education. Parents especially should be teaching their children of their worth, and the value of intimacy.
And while that's an extremely conservative view, I'm pretty liberal to most parts.
I believe most people, girls especially, should have a third party who can tell them of their worth, regardless of whether or not they have sex. And someone should let them know that having sex doesn't make them less worthy, or promiscuous. That particular cannard should die a very very painful death to every adult who teaches that women's value is tied to their "purity." it's disgusting that we still tell men to have as much sex as possible and penalize girls for having any sex at all.”
“Thank you. People seem to think women just sit around and go "OOH, I got pregnant half a year ago, I guess I'll take care of it now."
Really, any woman who's gotten to 8 months hoped to deliver a living breathing baby. And unfortunately, at 8 months, she'll have to go through labor and delivery and then watch as the baby she hoped to raise, that she already loved, dies. It's actually pretty heartbreaking when you think of it that way.”
“I'm with you until you call someone "rabid pro-choice." We all seem "rabid" when someone insists their way is the only way.
I believe whole-heartedly that all women should have choices (and yes, I vehemently include the use of contraception in that choice), but I've had two children. I would have had more, but I had heart failure after my second child.
I'm more "rabidly" pro-choice because I know it could be death for me. And yet, and here's where it's always a bit confusing, I would have loved to have more children.
Its insisting that the world is black and white, when the shades of grey predominate that frustrates me.”

“let me ask you something.... Do YOU do everything with some woman in mind? Since I doubt that, why continue with the endless comments about how women have to do things to please a man, let alone you?”
“Actually the internal polls for McAuliffe show he was never as far ahead (only 3-4%) as the national polls showed. Since his internal polling proved to be pretty accurate, his campaign has said they were accurate throughout.
No one in McAuliffe's camp believes that the ACA had anything to do with his win. Many people have reported that there were quite a few "anti-Cuccinelli" votes, including those for Sarvis.
It sounds pretty reasonable to me. The whole "anti-sodomy" thing is a bit absurd, especially when "sodomy" is defined as Cuccinelli's camp defined it.”
peg2584 on Nov 8, 2013 at 22:49:15
“Cuccinelli really started to sound to weird for words when he decided that he had to change the Virginia seal in order to cover up the woman's breast. I mean, really, you are worried about something that our founding fathers thought was OK???? Than it was the whole anti-sodomy thing. And the cherry on top was how he went after one of the top climate change scientists, like the guy was a pedophile or something. He is just icky weird.”
But I'm curious. Her whole reason for testifying was to explain *WHY* women would be prescribed the pill and to explain that even though students at Georgetown paid for their own insurance, they couldn't get access to the pill, which is a necessary medication for any number of women. That's WHY she testified.
She wanted the BCP to be available as a medical treatment option on health insurance. Because it's a hormone, it reacts differently with each woman, so some women can't take generics, and they often end up with a pill that costs well over $80/month. Her comment about cost was that it can average over $3000 over the course of earning a degree. That's not an easy figure for a college student to come up with.
Where did you get the idea she wanted anyone else to pay for her medication? That's right, talk radio. Where they vilified her continuously telling everyone that she had no morals, etc.
Do you see that the people who trashed her reputation have less morals than she did? Here's text from her testimony:
"A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome, and she has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries."
“btw, please stop assuming I write things I didn't write. I didn't say no one should own a home, and I currently pay rent (from my own funds) on the apartment I live in. And yes, that does include paying for the taxes in the area I live in.
It's absurd to twist and torture what I write so that you can have the narrative you want.
You were exaggerating and I called you on it. You've responded with ad hominem attacks and even more hyperbole. Oh, and kettle logic, moving the goal posts (you started at saying I was paying 20%), and special pleading.
You might want to go back to thinking about what you write, before you write it.”
65ball on Oct 29, 2013 at 14:00:36
“You called me on exaggeration..????
Not quite sure how you did that. It was the other way around. You said you pay no more than 20 to 30% in taxes and I showed how you were intentionally trying to mislead by saying 20% you should have at least said no more than 30% but we know the case is that you have no idea how much you earn goes to taxes....I called you on that and proved that 50 to 60% of my income goes to taxes...Do you live in Chicago or NY or any large city because they have tolls which is another form of taxing.....”
“Actually she wanted the health insurance plan SHE paid for to cover her prescription medication, which for some women, includes birth control.
And it's not because they're having sex. Fibroids are reduced by birth control, Dysmenorreah is managed by birth control, and so are a number of other significant female problems. But you'd rather impose your own moral guidance over a doctor's prescription?
Really? You bought into the lie that she wanted someone to buy her the pill.”
StarreBelle on Oct 29, 2013 at 13:37:48
“Thank you for the information on birth control pills.”
“You have no idea what god I or any other liberal/democrat believes in. I believe in the separation of church and state (like Thomas Jefferson) and I don't spout my beliefs to mollify knee-jerk reactionaries.
“cherry-picking? I specifically wrote "It's closer to 20-30% at most."
I don't currently own a home, so I don't pay property taxes (other than my car), but even that isn't 30% of your INCOME.
So you might want to reassess your inability to read a complete sentence, and your blatant LIES.
Sorry, you are the one caught in a lie, bashing me as a tax evader, when the truth is you used hyperbole to say you were paying 60% of your income in taxes. That's a lie.”
65ball on Oct 29, 2013 at 10:31:27
“And my federal tax rate is 28%.....”
65ball on Oct 29, 2013 at 10:29:13
“You specifically wrote you don't pay more than 20 to 30%. I proved in federal and state income tax you are at 30% already. You shouldn't have said 20% to 30%. Throwing the 20% out there proves you are not completely honest.
I on the other hand have put numbers to all the taxes I pay. And granted I do pay property tax which is my choice. But the only way to get rid of that tax is not own a home. So you are suggesting no one should own a home. Good idea maybe the government can pay for my housing as well...The next bill should be the Obamahousing bill. its only fair that everyone should have affordable housing and the government should supply it.
And as far as me saying I pay 60%...is not off base. I proved I pay in the 50% range but I also don't figure in utility taxes, gas taxes and now obamacare taxes....not to mention my year end bonus gets taxed at a 50% rate....so YES..I pay 60% taxes.....”
I'm always amazed when people fuss about how much they pay in taxes. I'm lucky to earn approximately $80K, and I know it. I also know that when I total up everything they take from me at the end of the year, it's not 60%. It's closer to 20-30% at most. And I do pay the normal sales taxes like everyone else.
You must pay some excessive tax that I don't know about.”
65ball on Oct 29, 2013 at 10:04:39
“So here is where you are caught in a big lie.....
Federal income tax rate on 80,000 a year is 25%.....
What is your state tax rate? My state is 4.11% on 80,000.
My sales tax rate is 7%
My property tax is roughly 5% of my income. This will very depending on the quality of your home.
I do have some local taxes for the school and fire department that adds up to about 1.75%
FICA...which my tax burden ends up being over 50%....
If you are only paying 20% you are a tax evader..and you should go to jail...And if you are such a caring liberal you should be giving at least 75% of your income to the government so they can do good with it....”
“Well at least you're admitting that some on the left have religion. That's a start for you.
The rest of this is babbling nonsense, of course. You sound like the man I worked with who insisted that giving subsidies to oil corporations was good, because "They took the risk" (and the profit!), while helping out people who are in a bad situation was a bad idea, because they should stand on their own two feet.
How about making all corporations stand on their own two feet as well? Is that an idea?”
pappy50 on Oct 29, 2013 at 10:02:13
“Sure. I agree with you are that. You must be a true conservative.”
Sarge10601 on Oct 29, 2013 at 09:56:51
“The religion of the Left is government.......it sure isn't God, judging from your convention.”
