“In reality that is correct. Lets face it overt Homosexuality is the new kid in town, and it is quite shocking to many of us. At 64 a guy with way too tight pants. a certain body language and speech literally can take my breath away. I dont hate the person, it just makes me very uncomfortable, Sadly that is the way it is and will be untill my generation dies off.”

“I misspell words often when I am in a hurry. Sorry. I hope it didn't OFFEND you. However to your point. In public people can be offended in many ways. Heteros and gays acting out sexually, people carying guns in inappropriate places, YOu name it. What this couple did if anything I havent a clue. It was offensive that tehy should comment on this couple, but if this or a hetro couple was making out, a word should have been given to them as well. Or not at all. Personally I wish overt love making could be kept out of public display. But that is just me.”

How many clinics has the VA closed? Services reduced? What specific reforms should the VA inact, since you are so aware of the issues? My guess based on your comment is that you are in fact a grumbling Republican aware only of that which your gut tells you and Fox news. Tell me how many Republican law makers voted against Bernie Sandars VA improvemnt and funding bill? HOw many Republicans are the first to scream about treatment who in fact obstruct any funding and service bills. I love it. VA workers can't speak english and are employed through affirmative action. Now that is pure ignorance. Try applying for a job with the VA and see how hard it is. Gut feelins do not equate to knowledge regardless of what Fox wants you to believe.”

Part 1
The American people are right to be outraged about the treatment of veterans. It is important to know where the problem lies. I have worked in private industry medical care and the VA for over 32 years and can say this... Nobody is more dedicated to the service and health of their clients than the people of the VA. Count on it. However, know this. the wages employees make, the money dedicated to the services provided, the general rules of operation are ALL determined by CONGRESS and the Senate. If you are a veteran less than 100 percent disabled and are handed a bill for services. Congress has decided that. If you can't get dental coverage. Congress has decided that. if there is a long waiting line for services, or if you have to travel long distance for appointments, it is because congress has not allocated enough money to increase manpower and operating equipment and space.”

“Part 2 22 years with the Department of Veterans Administration....Hear me.VA vs congress, who is really at fault?
The VA is not allocated money based on providing maximum benefits for the service people, it is allocated money based on politics, which in turn are based on how much service should the VA provide before it infringes on the profit potential of private medical providers. On how much money the Tax payer is willing to allocate to medical coverage at possibly the cost of some pork. How will greater service with increased VA staff and satisfaction for VA clients be perceived as a positive for one political party? Want to know who is at fault? Easy. See who in Congress and the Senate are yelling scandal the loudest, and check their voting records for support of veterans benefits. You may find quite the disconnect. Then if you really care for the military service members, vote accordingly.”

“As a vietnam Veteran, and a retired VA worker with 22 years of service I will tell you where teh problem with theVA is, and where it is not. It is not in the dedication of VA workers to the service people they support. However with upper namagement as with that of private organizations. Most VA management supports those who will get them a promotion and are often adverse to speaking out about issues to their superiors lest someone be offended. However teh most serious problem lies with teh politicians. The VA gets its funding not based on mumbers served, but by political expediency in Congress and the Senate. .Politicians Particularly Republicans talk a great pro veterans game, but look at their records for voting veterans funding and benefits. A completely different story. In fact, the lpuder they support veterans, the least they fund. Check it out on the net yourself. Remember. Politicians constituants are businesses. Any service the VA provides is less profit. Any worker the VA hires is one less who wil notl have to join the swollen worker pool dying for private low wage jobs. The public love the thought of veterans, RAh Rah Rah, but hates to pay the taxes for the aftermath of the wars. So you have a situation which exists where dental is impossible, Waiting times are long, and mental health issues are ignored. RAh Rah Rah.”

White House Solar Panels Are Finally Up

White House Solar Panels Are Finally Up

Commented May 10, 2014 at 00:45:16 in Politics

“It has occurred to me that your premise is that if you can't completely eliminate city power solar is worthless. even if I were to give your contention the benefit of the doubt, that doubt generated by the number of hospitals, companies and even very large homes with solar cells on their roofs, still the fact remains that even less than a complete system if used generally would be far better than none at all. Thus, I fail to see where Reagan was all that clever to remove it. Might I be so bold to guess that you may even be among the ever diminishing group of climate change deniers as well? Further what about the White House being a symbol of the aspirations toward the future? Unless you love oil, that too is of value. Finally, and again giving you the point that the solar cells might not completely cover the needs of that big house, is it not possible that improvements in such cells might in the not too distant future?”

John R Jaeger on May 10, 2014 at 02:29:02

“No that wasn't my premise. I believe that the oil in this world won't last forever. I've been waiting for fusion to become practical for 43 years. I'm still waiting. I find that wind power is growing fast, but their mechanical aspects and their potential to actually cause environmental damage give me pause. I think biomass and geothermal are dead ends. I believe the only practical approach to solar is the 'New Mexico' approach. Cover an area the size of New Mexico with huge solar farms, then build the transmission infrastructure to use and regulate the power produced. Of course, you'll make an area the size of New Mexico uninhabitable, but I don't know anyone in New Mexico, so that's OK. Asking any of my engineering friends in Massachusetts about putting solar panels on their roofs, and they'll laugh at you. Only nine hours of daylight in January and your roof is covered with snow and ice. My understanding of climate change is that if scientists are right about the upward spiral, then start building the dikes and storm shelters now, because China and India will make it happen. We have neither the will or the means to stop it.”

John R Jaeger on May 10, 2014 at 02:18:38

“No that wasn't my premise. I believe that there is just so much oil in this world and it won't last forever. I was taught that 43+ years ago Since then, I've been waiting for fusion to become practical. I'm still waiting. I look at the growth rates for solar and wind and find that wind is growing fast, but the mechanical aspects of wind turbines and their potential to actually cause environmental damage give me pause. I think biomass and geothermal are dead ends. I believe the only practical approach to solar is the 'New Mexico' approach. You cover an area the size of New Mexico with huge solar farms, then build the transmission infrastructure to use and regulate the power produced. Of course, you'll make an area the size of New Mexico uninhabitable, but I don't know anyone in New Mexico, so that's OK. I lived in Massachusetts until last year when I retired. Asking any of my engineering friends in MA about putting solar panels on their roofs, and they'll laugh at you. Only nine hours of daylight in January and your roof is covered with snow and ice. My understanding of climate change is simple. If scientists are right about the upward spiral, then we had better start building the dikes and storm shelters now, because China and India will make the 400 PPM barrier look like a small speed bump. There's nothing the U.S. or Europe can do about it, short of nuking both countries.”

“The solar pannels are up until God help us, the next Con gets into office and takes them down, like Reagan did. Lets hope instead the people take down the next Republican candidate instead.”

John R Jaeger on May 9, 2014 at 23:13:59

“Did it ever occur to you that roof top solar panels in the Northeast might not be a good idea? Maybe Reagan was smarter than Carter. I personally see a lot of downside to putting them on roofs, really (retired electrical engineer). Note that 6.3KW is roughly five times the electrical needs of an average house in the U.S. (1.24 KW, 2012 data). However the White House is approximately 55,000 sq ft, or roughly 25 times the size of an average US house, so the solar panels can only supply about 20% of the needs of the White House, and that's assuming it's not lit up like a national monument. Oh wait, it is lit up like one! Now if they used the lawn of the White House to host a solar farm, that would have made more sense. Also would have made the Secret Service personnel on the roof much happier I bet.”
