“Harsh reality: If you move your money to the little guy banks, the little guys become big guys and corrupt. Humans. Greed. Hand in hand.”

rbutters replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 19:10:58

“That is a gross oversimplification. There are thousands of local community banks. There are how many megabanks running the show? You could count them on two hands.

I really don't think that my small local community bank is going to go all JPM on me if 10,000 more people elect to bank with them. However, I do know that in all likelihood less people would probably have their homes sold out from under them in 1 day notice auctions, more money would be made available for local home and business loans, and most importantly, local money would stay local.

There is really no downside to this proposal.”

So, move your $ when the bank grows beyond your comfort zone.”

Please, Cut Obama Some Slack

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 15:19:44 in Politics

“That would be difficult since I'm not republican. But I may consider another candidate who is not in the popular parties.

This is all moot. I'm not going to lay down my personal ban hammer on Obama until the entire four years is up. Until then, we will have to wait and see.”

“I've got 1.5 years left on my fixed interest jumbo loan (I only have one house). My wife lost her job and is mentally ill. When that 1.5 years is up. I'm doomed. I've never missed a payment and I have equity. The bank won't work with me to modify the loan until I've trashed my credit and missed payments.

I believe I represent the next wave in this financial crisis. I'm out of savings. I'm out of 401K reserves. It's just a matter of time now.”

Patroclus replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 16:57:06

“With a little luck, the housing market will recover sufficiently for you to sell. At least that would allow you to avoid total disaster. Also, you should not just talk to your bank, but seek counsel from other agencies.”

“Destruction of the US economy started with Reagan. Yes. That is a verifiable fact. He invented trickle down economics and so DRASTICALLY cut the income taxes for the wealthy, he essentially dismantled our entire system. In essence, he removed the one solid pillar driving our entire economy. Those tax breaks need to be reinstated. Sorry wealthy people.

BOY did the wealthy love him. He's their god.”

“Reagan changed US from a creditor nation to a debtor nation.

This was an enormous loss of power, a greater defeat than occurred in any war, cold or otherwise.

Yes, he firmly placed US on the path to where we are today.”

“If we continue down the road we are going, in 40(ish) years, the middle class will be gone (bankrupt) and the US will be a third world nation.

If the rest of the world wants us to protect big OIL world wide, they need to start forking over BIG money. Kind of makes us sound like the mafia demanding protection money. So what, it's the truth.”

Artemis34 replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 15:46:04

“That is what the elite wants. A tiny ruling class (1%) and a permanent underclass of serfs serving them.

They've already milked the US middle class so they've got their eyes on better hunting grounds (Brazil, Russia, India, China...).”

“That's true for Kia and non-Japanese brands. But Japan has one of the highest costs of living in the world. SO MUCH SO, that they even outsourced (and you are correct...Americans DO do good work) to the US. We have a huge Toyota plant in south of me near Hayward in Califorinia. I think it just shut down due to the economy.

Everything sucks right now. Everything.”

“Japanese cars last twice as long. You do the math. Buying cuhrap cars from the US (not now, but for the last few decades) was the equivalent of a government buy out. Save the US by buying our poorly made cuhrap!!

By the way, the REAL money America produces is in the intellectual property realm. Technology. Not products. So, our REAL failure is in our total lack of education. We don't have a generation smart enough to carry us through this century. That is where we have totally failed.”

harleydavidson replied on Dec 03, 2009 at 15:12:29

“I'll agree that there's a quality problem with US autos. Why could this be? Its not the fault of the assemblers- quality is at the top in that respect. It the quality of the parts - 15,000 inferior parts when compared to Asian and Euro cars. Why is this? Quality of parts must be subjugated so that health care can be paid for (about 1500.00 per car). Euro and Asian mfgrs don't have this problem, hence a higher quality product can be built.”

“Exactly....how did that become our problem? Well, let me be more accurate...how did that become our problem ALONE. The entire world should be ponying up the cash and human power to achieve the goal of eliminating poverty. That would do two things: ELIMINATE POVERTY, and eliminate the strongholds of terrorism.

Those goals do not belong to America alone.”
