“So when this man brings us into another war is there going to be the same uproar that there was in the last 4 years of the Bush era? Or are people so bias and infatuated with Obama that somehow this war would be acceptable?”

lifeandvictory on Aug 30, 2013 at 20:22:46

“It's not about bias. It's not about race. The faux love for him is about something far far deeper. Not many want to hear it, though more are waking back up. It is all biblical if you catch my drift.”

“My recollection was that the media and various leaders like Colin Powell had pretty well whooped up pro war sentiment in 2003. Looks like the same thing now, maybe? If not, then Obama will be more brazen than Bush: moving ahead without popular support. But I recall that more or less, the popular support (measured in numbers) was there in 2003.”

But yes, the Obamagasms will follow him off a cliff. If he said that MLK was a traitor, they would nod their heads in agreement. It is a form of mass hysteria.”

“The President said the Government won't spy on Americans and make the same mistakes it did before. Then goes on to say "No I do not think he (Snowden) is a patriot." Granted patriot is a strong word it is extremely hypocritical of him not support Snowden who exposed the illegal activities of the NSA and subsequentally the Obama administration. How many of you would be up in arms if you hear a CEO say "Okay we won't cook our books again, but the whistle blower was wrong for exposing us..."? Being that this is The Huffington Post I assume all of you would be calling for his head. Guess what folks, the previous example is exactly what Obama did.”

ALS 3 on Aug 12, 2013 at 14:20:55

“No, I wouldn't be upset if a CEO said that. It makes sense, we'll stop doing illegal activities but yeah, we're still going to be pissed that this guy gave this information. It's exactly how they'd act.

Snowden still committed a crime, and does not have any legal option for him to claim whistle blower. You think the President of the United States should stand up and say yeah, Snowden what a great guy. I don't understand how you think Obama is being hypocritical.”

“Yes I want to keep America strong but you are blaming the wrong people for our problems.  And the problems are not created by the sole fact that there are wealthy people and they are saving their money.  Tell me, when was the last time you heard the congress as whole take a paycut?  When was the last time you heard any poitician take a paycut?  Are congressmen/congresswomen really entitled to a 6 figure salary when all they do is pass law that hurt the economy.  I am not going to waiste my time explaining to you every detail about why it is the governments fault that we are in the mess we are because I know you aren't going to change your mind solely based on what I type here so I am going to just stop now.  I will however provide you a link to a very insightful and scholarly website that has all of the information you need to know on what is wrong and how to fix it.  I hope you have a good day.  The following site is run by an orginazation of economists.  All articles and video's are authored by economists and other academics respectively. http://www.fee.org/the_freeman/#axzz2bNQfmvd4 http://www.fee.org/education_modules/#axzz2bNQfmvd4

“And if you line up twelve economists, you will get twelve different approaches to what makes a successful economy and what does not make a successful economy. This economist believes that the only successful economy can be one in which every person in that economy gets a piece of the action. Henry Ford learned a long time ago that if the people working for him were going to be able to afford the cars he was manufacturing, he was going to have to pay them high enough wages to be able to do so. How can there ever be a successful economy in which only a few people have money in their pockets to spend? The problems we are discussing are as old as the mountains themselves. Contrary to your beliefs, the only time in history when this country has had a stable economy, is when the wealth was more distributed, and a middle-class developed. Hoarding ones money is nothing new. What is new and works, is a strong middle-class of people with some money in their pockets to spend”

“I do not disagree with the fact that without any flow of money the economy would fail, I don't anyone would.  What I disagree with is forcing people to spend their money, or taking money that they earned from them.  And I also disagree with demonizing a group of people for doing what any rational human being would do in times of uncertainty.  I also disagree that I owe anything to you or my country besides sufficient taxes for defense and a judicial system, nothing more.  By the way, incase you've been asleep the past few years, we have a spending problem, so introdcucing an inheritance tax would only create more wasteful spending.  You cannot have an inbalance of spendinngs and saving.  When the two hover near eachother is when the economy does the best.  And the governments current policies are the reason people are saving a lot more than they are spending which has a good deal to do with our problems and hence why this ridiculous article was written.  You are blaming the wrong people.”

stees4 on Aug 8, 2013 at 06:09:10

“I understand perfectly. The wealthy think they should have everything their way in this country. Unfortunately for government, there are a whole lot more people out there without money than there are with money. The government has to govern in a way that is appropriate for all the people. We the People is not exclusive to the wealthiest among us. I am sorry, however, if the wealthiest among us do not begin to make some changes in their behavior and soon, the government will have to begin twisting their arm. I only hold the wealthiest among us responsible, because they are the ones in the position to do something about what is going on in this country. In your heart, I know you want America to continue to be the superpower it has been in the past. The alternative is countries like China and it's military might being in control. I certainly hope that thought scares you as much as it scares me.”

“Do you even know where the term liberal came from? Do you even know what kind of people were first labeled liberals? My guess is no, so let me explain. When the term liberal was first used to decribe a group of people, it used to describe todays classical liberals (aka libertarians). You are not a liberal, you are a progressive, which is equally as bad as a conservative.”

“Why is it okay for a "poor" person to save money but not okay for a "rich" person to save money? Why is it called "squirreling away" and not saving? The action, whether you are poor or rich, is the same. The reasoning behind both the rich and poor saving is the same. Unless you are mentally psychotic and think all rich people in the top 1%, (last year mind you because the same people aren't in the top 1% every year) are deliberately so evil as to "hoard" money. I have a question for the author, at what income level does saving money turn from savings to hoarding? Please, I would really like to know where this line is drawn. I would also like to know when this line was drawn. Was it when people of this country started attacking the successful people in this country because they were blinded by manipulated statements from their politicians? Something I will never understand is why it is "greed" to want to keep the money people earn but not "greed" to want to take it from them.”

stees4 on Aug 8, 2013 at 05:35:20

“The history of England has shown that hoarding money actually stiffles the growth and success of a country economically. At one time, the wealthy in England hoarded all their money ensuring that money would stay in the family who had emassed the fortune. Problem being that just because one generation being active and entrepeneurial does not ensure that the next generation in that family will be the same way. People who had good ideas could not get them off the ground without cash. The wealthy in England chose not to think about what was best for their country, and so government had to take things in hand. Thus the inheritance tax was developed to free up some of that money and put it back into an active economy. Do we need to get behind the wealthy in this country with a cattle prod jabbing them in the ??? to help them use their money to get the economy in this country moving again?”

“Changing the interest rates for student loans does nothing to stop the rising cost of tuition. This bill solves nothing. Paying 3.9% on a $20,000 loan is the same as paying 7.8% on a $10,000 loan over the same period of time. Lowering interest rates does not solve the real problem with college tuition. Stop subsidizing college tuition and the price of college will go down.”
