“The fact is that this man is now getting the assistance he needs. He's attending AA and getting housing. He has an organization that made him feel good about himself for probably the first time in a long while. Now he has a chance all because of a hair cut and a nice suit.”

“I agree with everything you said up until the last sentence. I don't think it's the haircut and the suit that have given him a chance (not saying they weren't helpful); I think it's all the other things you mentioned.”
“How is this committee all men? Surely there are competent and smart women who would be glad to be a part of this process.”

“There have been men recently that have allowed there bodies be put in the state and pain of childbirth through muscle contraction units. There is not one man that have been through it that has not had his esteem of women shy rocket. I think before any male pol whats to regulate for women needs togo through this as a start to heighten their understanding.”

“Do you really believe that any Republican (I am including Republican women) believes that any woman is capable or deserving of making her own healthcare or childbearing decisions? Republicans don't want women - any woman - deciding her reproductive options or accessing health care easily. If they could take away women's right to vote, they would take that away too.”
“This poor woman. I wonder if she had insurance that would have paid for her to have counseling while she was unable to take her anxiety and depression meds. This mother needs support and counseling not incarceration. What she did was legally wrong, but with how this country treats mental illness, I don't blame her for her choice.”

“Actually what she did was nOT legally wrong.. Any parent has the right to rehome their child.. Most states do not allow attorneys to find placements for children any longer because of the corruption. She did not other thna do what DHS would do. She would have to get a homes tudy and a background check in order to go forward with a legal placement..She just didn't want to have a record of child abandonment by the state which is understandable.”
“Why should I have to be generally suspicious of men? Why should I have to teach my nine year old that men are evil? Why shouldn't the burden of raising respectful safe children fall to everyone, not just the parents of daughters? Children should be taught to respect everyone regardless of gender. More adults need to learn this as well. The problem of violence towards women should not be limited to teaching women how to better protect themselves. The abusers need to be made accountable as they are the ones doing the crime, not the victim.”
“He has Autism and since he is non-verbal, there is a very good chance he did not actually understand that what he was doing was stealing. The sister offered to pay for the food and that should have ended the conversation. Suggesting a leash for a grown man is wrong and completely intolerable regardless of the circumstances.”
“I work with disabled folks and once had a woman pocket a snack at a certain well known coffee chain, the barista just smiled when I apologized for the non-verbal woman as we put the snack back. That is how you work with individuals who do not understand the consequences of their actions. The sister apologized and offered to pay for the food, the guard should have accepted the apology and taken her money, not denigrate the man.

“""I might vote for Mitt Romney for governor, but i don't think that's the basis for being president on education..." Ah, the Romney campaign in a nutshell. Who really is running? Moderate Romney the governor or Super Conservative Romney the possible president?
Regardless, both candidates need to really make education a priority. This country has built an economic system that requires well educated workers and we need an educational system that can provide them.”
“Well it is a really good thing we live in the United State where cruel and unusual punishment is illegal.
This comment is extremely heartless when we have a ridiculously enormous amount of child abuse cases in this country. I think I can feel my brain melting.”
“They are a Automotive startup. How could they be cash flow positive at the beginning? Seriously, this is an industry with a very steep cost of entry and Tesla is doing something truly innovative. Tesla plans on being cash positive in the very near future and as soon as he has the resources to start producing less expensive cars, he will. This is a business with a bright future and a solid business plan. I think that counts as a winner company.
Comparing a coffee shop to a car company is ridiculous.”
“What is so terrifying about a gay couple marrying? If the federal and state governments allow marriage between two individuals of the same gender, that is not going to require that all churches perform the ceremonies.
Seriously, it is possible to live within your beliefs when others feel differently. It won't kill you.”

“I hate to break it to you, but not all types of birth control are covered under those two conditions. Some women need to use a certain kind as generics or other brands have different inert ingredients that can have adverse effects.
Also, insulting Ms. Fluke for testifying about a friend's struggle to treat her PCOS (I think that was the disease) with medically necessary medication that should be covered under her insurance she pays for misses the point of this article and is completely insensitive.”
“My brain wishes to explode right now. So in a time with ridiculous rates of unemployment, now I have to make sure I find an employer who won't force their own morals on me by restricting the insurance coverage for which I pay? Seems like this law takes away my freedom.”

“Really this article should be about how single mothers cannot join the banking system because the jobs they are able to work don't pay a decent wage or allow any sort of flexibility. This is a problem for everyone in this country, not just the poor. When companies treat employees like human beings instead of property, they will have happier workers and a better, more productive, workforce.

“It could be about that if that were the true reason for the phenomenon, but it's not. If you start with nothing and then divide it into 3 pieces, you still have nothing. If the man is not adequately providing for himselfl and the woman is not adequately providing for herself, how can they provide for a 3 solely dependent entity called a baby? Not multiply that for instances when the man has voiced his unwillingness to be a participating co-parent and what else would happen but the custodial parent slipping further behind?”

“I understand where you are coming from, but I cannot side with you as the budget for the country did not create the depression. Also a lot of the spending in those budgets was slightly pre-ordained, military action in Afghanistan and Iraq had to be paid for as not paying soldiers is generally a bad idea, then other programs and policies that were begun by the current administration needed funding as well.
Regardless, it is time to focus on the present and the future by coming up with actual solutions to fix problems rather than continuing to stall and blame the past.”

“I agree with you on your point. It was not the budgets in themselves that created the depression. The downturn started with the repeal of Glass Steagal Act which barred the banks from certain business practices. Over simplification obviously. It just took tens years run it's course, then to take effect; but really it is the financial system that brought the depression. The gov't played a big role during three presidents and congresses, who all played a part. The cause was power and greed. Get rid of the greed in our gov't and we will be on the right track.”
“I love the fact that every person vilifying those on food stamps seems to think they have the answer and it is getting rid of a President who has actively worked to raise this country out of a depression he did not create.
Anywho, back to the topic. Not everyone on food stamps is unemployed; I know of a single father who required food stamps one month because he couldn't buy formula. He was working 40 hours a week and had just filed bankruptcy because of an ex destroying his finances. I have known people who are eligible for food stamps but would rather go hungry than lose their pride by asking for help.
The difference is children, because most people on food stamps are on them because it is extremely hard to look at a child and say "I'm sorry honey, the car broke down/my hours got cut/I don't get paid enough, we will not be eating dinner tonight."
Don't vilify the poor, vilify those in office who care more about making our current president look bad than doing their jobs and creating and passing legislation that would help the economy.”

“"a President who has actively worked to raise this country out of a depression he did not create."
Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &
2011.In that first year, they had George Bush to deal with, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets. And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007
deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. Sorry to stay off topic but the inherited argument is getting really old for me.”
“I can attest to this, while a friend of mine had lost a place to live, he had a prepaid smartphone that could connect to WiFi. Through that connection he was able to get himself back together, find a job, (well two now) and resume living without losing the strong support from his friends and family.”
