“We really do need a Nuremberg type tribunal for the monsters in this country that are preventing this country from functionally dealing with the climate change issue. These things in Congress belong in that long list of criminals that were prosecuted in Nuremberg”

“Solitary confinement which the UN views as torture is now routinely and arbitrarily used in the wretched privatized US prison system. Many non violent offenders are tuned into raving violent lunatics by the time this system goes to work on them. But this is wonderful because it insures that they will add onto their sentences and insure increased profits and contracts due to an increased prison population. This is but one of many red flags on the pathway to fasc%^^ism”
“This piece of human waste knows what he is doing. It is a marvelous distraction from the true point. He should be telling the students to revolt if the super rich and huge corporations pay virtually no taxes while the working class shoulders the burden. Now we are talking revolution points. I am happy to pay taxes that are invested in our infrastructure. The issue is also not about high taxes but what those tax dollars are being spent on and what national priorities are. But Scalia, again master of manipulation would like to see yahoos in the street revolting against taxes because its big Gubmint”
“Everything is reduced down to how much blustery rhetoric one can hurl around and how many things can be bombed to prove one's manhood and worth as a leader in the US according to the chicken hawks and eternal war hawks in the Republican (neofas#%st) regime. And of course the failed, conflicted, and disgraceful mainstream media cheerleaders will continue to co-enable the wretched process.”
“THanks Piers, you speak rationally and wisely about the issue. That is a real problem with gun fanatics and the propagandized sheep in our population. They will never get it, in part because they don't want to get it. If the horror and madness of grade school massacres don't do it, nothing will”

“You're the one bleating here. Gun control is about controlling law-abiding citizens, nothing more.”
“Having guns around often gets people, often children in those households killed that gun owners think they are bravely protecting”
dragn1 on Mar 30, 2014 at 00:36:42
“So last numbers were about 40 percent of the households have a gun.
So 2.5 kids per household, I know I am dreaming, but if we break families up to 2 adult and 2.5 kids we get about 75 millions households, 40% around 30 million households with guns. 60 million kids around guns.
NY Against Gun Violence, I am sure a non partisan groups says that
Deaths: From 2005-2010, almost 3,800 people in the U.S. died from unintentional
More than a third of the victims were under 25 years of age
so 1266 kids during that time died from accidental shootings.
I am all for gun education starting in grade school and mandatory. Something I am sure progressives will enjoy. People need to be more careful will guns I agree. But from the CDC report that Obama commissioned.
Defensive gun uses a year number around 1 million. Evan if it is 500 thousand. So even if 1% had a child under the age of 25 saved then I have doubled your stats. It is a tragedy when kids are accidentally killed in any way. Having it happen with a gun does not make it somehow worse.”

“But upwards of 1,000,000 times year or more, it does not. CDC report that Mr. Obama commissioned.”

“What destruction of our Constitution and what destruction of civil liberties have occurred for you? I have not seen any. Nor have I heard of any American whose lawful activities or actions have been restricted or compromised as a result of NSA surveillance programs. Snowden may or may not be a traitor in the traditional sense, only time will tell. What is factually known is this: he used subversion to gain employment; he stole documents that were not his to take; he made those documents public to foreign countries who were not authorized to have them; he fled the nation of his birth and betrayed the oath that he swore allegiance to; and he now resides in an adversarial nation that prides itself in brutal crackdowns on dissenters and censorship of media at will. Greenwald is a self-serving opportunist whose former life as a journalist had merit. Now he is just a glory-hound, milking ANY story that gets his name in print or in blogs. History will judge these two soon enough. One thing is clear, neither of these two have done this nation any favors. None at all.”
jamsb3 on Mar 25, 2014 at 17:16:05
“Neither Snowden nor Obama nor W is a traitor. The presidents are politicians, we expect them to prevaricate and triangulate, the question isn't about their morality or their motivation, it's about the effectiveness of their policies. W was dreadful in this realm and Obama hasn't changed W's post 9/11 Homeland Security matrix near enough.”

“No Gerry, you have your definitions mixed up. He stole US information, gave it away, and didn't use other means to report what he knew to the U.S. authorities. That is a traitor. He broke his ties to the U.S. Constitution when he single handedly went against the United States of America in his pursuit of fame. Now he and Putin can have fun until Putin orders him to Siberia.”
