“This is a classic syndrome. The victims need several wake up calls before they finally admit that it is not them. Prosecuting a charge in court is a pretty awful experience and the victims fear the rage of their abusers. So they back down often. But they all have a breaking point where either enough is enough or they get killed. This story is far from over. I fear for the poor woman.”
“The seal was thinking of them. He was not being selfish. He's being villainized.”

“I'm sorry. I'm not sure about your comment. He was not being selfish... the seal? He's being vaudevillian... the seal or the game warden? I think they were all quite happy. The seal surely looked content and the newlyweds obviously enjoyed his presence.”
“Four more days of vacation is hardly a thing to complain about. They should thank the seal. He did them a solid.”
GC1008 on Dec 8, 2013 at 01:41:56
“They weren't complaining. And it wasn't exactly a vacation. "The couple, who work as wildlife wardens, decided to spend their first few months of marriage caring for a colony of 180 baby Atlantic gray seals on the tiny British island."”
“Pregnant at 16, killed the father at 17, got away with it, became a bride at 18 and launched a career as a prostitute and then killed a man for fun to celebrate her husband's 22nd birthday. Now she's looking at the death penalty and she isn't even old enough to drink. She's quite the overachiever.”

“"Killed the father at 17" do you have a source?
You can't make this stuff up.”
“The temperature inside the tents is higher than outside. Little thing called physics. If it is 120 outside, inside the tents it could be 140 or more. Called thermodynamics. If its such a paradise, you live in one.”

“People that live in HVA/C are wimps. People have survived in all weather conditions for over 250,000 years. Electric fans weren't invented until around 1882, the evaporator cooler was invented in Phoenix, AZ in 1908 and the first A/C in 1902... but only the rich and big businesses had them until in the 1950's where they became more popular in homes, but few could afford them until the 1970's in America and have more of them than anywhere else.
As a AZ native we never had more than fans and a evaporator cooler until 1987 in homes I lived in. I have lived in a small travel trailer in the middle of the desert with no electricity in 1990 in that 128 heat wave, with only a few windows to open. That is much worse than a tent, that they raise the sides up to allow air to flow freely through. Your rant is meaningless saying I should try living in one. People these days are wimps that think everything should be to some standard of living conditions. It's the same reason they will not get out and work outside and would rather take welfare and other government assistance. I know a 4' 9' 135 lb that loads 125 lb hay bales in 115 degree summers to feed her horses, that's more of a man - figuratively speaking - than a lot of pansy men I know working in offices. This "It's inhumane." mentality is pure BS.”

“They also roll the tent flaps up in the summer time to vent.
By the way, he also makes the inmates use stationary bikes to power their tv's. I'm shocked you aren't lauding his green innovations.”
“It is inhuman to force people to live in a tent in 125 degree and higher temperatures. It is cruel and unusual punishment. Arpaio is a sadist. He torments people and he derives pleasure from it. He has already lost one civil rights case against him. We as a society are not well served by tortuing non violent offenders. Just because they fell into the arms of the law does not mean they have forfeited all human rights. Sounds to me like maybe you should go to work for Arpaio.”

“He does lose cases and then comes within compliance of the decision.
I worked in a prison for five years and saw some remarkable changes, but I won't to that or ever work in A jail again.
As far as your perceived human rights go? Those rights are protected by the Constitution and when violated deserve remediation in the courts. Since Arpaio has been using those tents for over a decade then There must not be any violation of "human rights."”

“Our Troops live in these tents in hotter temperatures in the middle east at 129 degrees to 135 in 1922, and it has not gotten above 122 degrees in Arizona in 1990 of my 53 years of living here 115 for a few days a year is average. Tent City is a temparary Detention Center, not a Jail.”
“Most of these people have committed such awful crimes like not paying parking tickets. Arpaoi is a sadist who loves tormenting people. Including making them live in tents in the middle of the Arizona summer.”

“If he was sheriff in Alaska he would make them sleep in tents during the winter.”

“He put tents up to relieve Inhumane over crowding...he was ordered to reduce the over crowding and came up with a solution...if you don't like it, don't move into a tent in Arizona. And by the way, nothing illegal in making his inmates live in tents.”
“Huy Fong did not just barge into town, build a factory and peed on the locals. They applied for permits, the city council approved them and then they built to plans. So now they act like HF is a criminal organization?? The city s proud the judge shut them down?? This is ridiculous. All because 30 people out of tens of thousands complained? The tone here is that HF is a bad neighbor when in fact hey did everything y the book.”
“What is not being discussed is a far bigger issue here. Hobby Lobby claims that the 4 kinds of contraception are all abortions. There claim is the instant the ovum and sperm met life begins. If they succeed this will provide extremely powerful ammunition for anti-abortion activists toi claim that the SCOTUS set a precedent that in fact life begins at the moment of conception. Expect hundreds of new laws protecting zygotes with criminal penalties for murder if a woman say has a miscarriage or self induces an abortion via medication. Judicial rulings always have ripple effects and this one was designed just for that purpose. The very fact that the SCOTUS took the case is all you need to know how they will rule.”
“They do this all throughout the South. I read once about a woman who had her car seized and the officers told her they had reason to believe it was bought with drug money. She hired a lawyer who found out the car was being driven by the police chief's wife. He told his boys to go out and nab that particular model car because his wife wanted one. She got the car back but had to sell it to pay the lawyer. No cops were disciplined.”
“Then why did the city approve the plans? Huy Fong operates two other plants in Rosemeade and nobody has tried to shut them down. I live close to Irwindale and I can tell you the Miller brewery stinks far worse.”

“probably money under the table. Our ASARCO Smelter was going for years up until 2000 when they closed for bankruptcy. The sulfur smell was terrible and it coated the area with lead. The area was away from housing but with the wind out of the west the pollutants came over the small mountains west of UTEP. Try breathing sulfured air during the day in the winter six days a week. I understand you hate the smell of a brewery but I doubt that it burns the throat and the eyes. Chiles do.”
“Algebra II is too hard? School is supposed to be about teaching people to think and math is a very important part of that. Anyone can do algebra with good instruction and perhaps some one on one time and that is what Texas is cutting; teachers. The race to the bottom continues. Plus they can now claim they graduate more high school students because it just got a lot easier than other state's schools.”
