Washington Examiner: 'Obama Disses White Guys'

“What extremists, tool? We THINKING American Patriots cannot fathom why our friends on the right can't figure out that all three entities you listed (although minus the actual facts about them) are fully owned subsidiaries of the same dark force - Rupert Murdoch (WSJ + Fox News) and through a tangled mess of their own making, his friends in the GOP (the so-called grassroot "tea party nation"). It's so obvious...”

“Sorry OldHenry - you're seeing things that aren't there. Listen again, and watch the captions. The President speaks of "first time voters"... There is no "further balkanizing" going on. Don't make stuff up.”

“Good lord. What will they think of next? I saw absolutely NOTHING wrong with that message - but if you're a paranoid schitzo like Rushbo and Washington Examiner staffers, I guess you could see all kinds of monsters under the bed...”

“I will help you with what is wrong with the message.

It is bad for the country for us to allow ourselves to be carved up into groups and pitted against one another. It is particularly wrong for the president to participate in this sort of behavior.”

“Shocking. Not. Just finished reading Glen Greenwald's, "Great American Hypocrites" that details the Grand Old Party's propaganda machine that spawned such "heroes" as John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and John McCain. Nothing about the Grandiose Old Poobahs surprises me now...”

Supreme Court Overturns Animal Cruelty Video Ban: Ruling Could Spur New 'Crush' Videos

Commented Apr 20, 2010 at 11:43:07 in Politics

“Tough call - do the rights of the individual under the Constitution outweigh the "rights" of animals, which have no constitution or voice of their own? The majority ruled correctly, I believe. It's up to the states now to make laws against people profitting by the cruelty against animals.”

drumsgirl on Apr 20, 2010 at 11:46:11

“It's not even about that. It's solely about the law was too broad - it could have included hunting videos and PETA videos etc. If they narrowed the law it would probably stand.”

Tea Party Infiltrators: Mischief Not As Disruptive As Group Previously Feared

Tea Party Infiltrators: Mischief Not As Disruptive As Group Previously Feared

Commented Apr 17, 2010 at 15:04:46 in Politics

“Freedom Works: "We know that infiltrators might be coming to our tea parties. But remember last April 15th; the idea that the tea parties would be infiltrated in the same way was all over the news. The results? Virtually no infiltration. We know they might be coming, and they know we know. And they know we are ready."

We know that they know that we know that they know.

The tea partiers expected "infiltrators", and seem disappointed that none showed up to prove their paranoid theory. But liberals don't need, or want, to confront these weak-minded, pathetically misinformed individuals. We realize that there is no single, simplistic answer to the problems we face as a society, and we see a variety of causes of our problems, and we know that there are many solutions. So we look for ways to pragmatically attack the problems, find solutions and change the status quo.

Not so the tea partiers. Their single-mindedness devolves them to a paranoid state that only allows them to consider their own (skewed) viewpoint, and they seem to believe that their simplistic rhetorical calls to attack that which they don't fully comprehend MUST be the ONLY way. Their "in your face" style cannot effect the change they seek - their numbers are not growing, they're shrinking, and their power was only in their numbers, not their message.”

“Do we have to refer to them as a "Christian" militia? I'm pretty sure that Christ would NOT have called them "His" people. Let's just refer to them by what they really are: Anti-American home-grown terrorists.”
