“I honestly do not think this is possible because a good, decent, honest person would not want the office and would never make it to the election ballet with our political system as corrupt and greedy as it has become.”

darleneharoldcramer on Nov 21, 2013 at 14:36:29

“Very good point.”

“I would presume it would be okay with you if a GOP president picked all conservatives? (Not that that is ever likely to happen again with the dismal candidates the GOP has run for President lately.).”

“JCH - I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss conservatives, especially since Obama's approval rating is down to 37%, and is STILL FALLING.”

“Anyone who is involved with the Papa John's franchise program gets just what they deserve for the poor wages and benefits they extend their employees while profiting from their work. Papa John himself should be disenfranchised as far as I am concerned and I certainly will never buy his pizza.”

Luscruz on Nov 18, 2013 at 15:56:07

“So you're of the belief that an owner should take a risk with their money by buying a franchise and then let the employees tell them how to run the operation. You must not have any experience in running a profitable business. A private business cannot rely on the government to bail them out, they either make it or they don't. Do yourself a favor and get to know a small business owner, you will realize these people are the most self reliant you will ever meet.”

alsaxe on Nov 18, 2013 at 15:48:56

“i'm no fan of Corporate pizza, but i don't undrestand your complaint about poor wages. You don't need any special skills to work behind a counter and ask someone if u can help them. The only person in a pizzeria that should earn a good salary is the man/woman that makes the pizza. As for benefits....it's not a career job..These type of jobs were never intended to be careers. I realize that the economy has forced alot of people to work in these jobs. It's still no reason for the owners of these stores to pay high wages or benefits..”

“And by an amazing coincidence, the rich republicans always seem to think they are paying way too much of the cost. Wonder if they ever take into consideration that anywhere else in the world, they would be paying upwards of 80% of their income in taxes because they are fortunate to be blessed with the good luck to become wealthy. Not all people are given the same skills and the same opportunities and the less fortunate wind up paying the biggest price. What ever happened to "compassionate conservatives"? Yeah, right...just words.”

“Any one who believes the health care system in this country, ( prior to the Affordable Care Act ) the cost of which is controlled by the "free market" system, was not on a course to bankrupt this nation was not paying any attention to insurance premiums and health care costs. Why do you think the only establishments that were continuing to construct new facilities during the deepest part of the "great recession" were medical facilities? They do not compete with each other, prior to the Affordable Care Act and were making no attempt to streamline or increase efficiency of their operations because "cost was not an issue". Wake up, America, reducing health care costs is the single best way to reduce our long term cost of doing business and government in the future!”

“I suppose Congress should dredge up every piece of legislation ever passed and, if they find it not to their liking, try time and time again to defund it? This is utterly preposterous and is the very reason nothing gets accomplished in Congress any more. Get over it and get on with the business of moving the nation and the world forward or the world will leave us behind.”

InvisibleButAuthentic on Oct 20, 2013 at 15:05:12

“Actually, the first goal should be to never pass legislation that violates the Constitution in the first place...Your "get over it" argument only works if it is actually good for the nation.
Slavery was once the law of the land... perhaps abolitionists should have just "gotten over it"
Prohibition was once a constitutional amendment... perhaps people should have just gotten over it.
Fighting about the laws in the nation is not why congress gets nothing done.  Congress gets waaaaayyyy too much done.  Look at our budget (or lack thereof).  They are "accomplishing" much.  It just isn't for the good of the nation or the general population.”
