“No, it' won't. Portrait and wedding photographers have to deal with people all day. Even with their 5k camera equipment and photoshop at the end of the day your face is your face.”

“My point really was that the guy has no intelligence or redeeming qualities other than his face. Although, I do think that photoshopping and other digital renderings will soon be able to create model-faces out of regular schmoes.”
“I support ACA but for many people it's not affordable. I've notice this :
In getting work, many employers have cut hours to 26 hours a week so they don't have to pay insurance. These are usually minimum wage jobs which leaves employees with less money, less opportunity to get more money, and a new health care bill every month (which is either paid out of pocket or subsidized by middle class people).
Men and women who are middle class are being squeezed with high insurance premiums.
Individuals who don't make as much money are forced into Medicare as a means of following the mandate...which negatively affects many people's views of themselves as a freeloader.
I do support the new policy demanding insurance companies take people with prior conditions, but the mandate has been bad all around. Is it less than the price of cable? Sure...but most poor people ( the 15 percent without insurance) don't have cable...most don't even have netflix.
“Men on this forum need to acknowledge that when they see "natural" women, most are actually wearing makeup. They just may not be made up completely. A truly natural look is how we look when we wake up in the morning.”
“This is such a big problem. I don't know what's worse: the President doesn't know what the NSA is doing or the President thought it was a smart PR move to say that he doesn't know what the NSA is doing.
All I know is I hope that Europe's anger to the US inspires us to change our passivity over the spying abuse going on in our country.”
“It's just mean spirited, which is gender neutral. It's as nice as a guy breaking up with a woman and talking about her sagging breasts, inability to have children, or failure to break the corporate ceiling (because frankly dear you haven't the ability, intellect or social charm to rise above middle management (e.g.)) .
Breaking up with someone is no big deal, but as adults you strive to stay above the belt.”
“I see your point, and going with the same theme, The difference between a cheap iphone and cheap phone is the difference between a walmart bicycle for $99 and a specialty store bike going for 599$...which is still cheaper than high end bicycles being sold at 1299, but nowhere near the market for most bicycle consumers.”

“Chicken nuggets aren't good for you, but I do respect the idea of using the whole chicken. Some healthy food enthusiasts seem to want to raise, feed, and kill a chicken just for its breast. The chemicals are a bit concerning, but finding a way to use the gross parts of the animal is really great.”
“I recall a story on this site not long ago about a new line of Motorola phones. The big news with that was that customers would be able to get the phones in their choice of bright colors and that they were assembled on a Texas assembly line using foreign made components. Is that the kind of news you are hoping for? I believe the sales of that phone have been disappointing though I'm not sure if I read that on Huffington Post or elsewhere.”

“News about other phones don't draw nearly the interest and readership that news about iPhones draw. Apple products continue to be the high tech devices that other brand devices are measured against, as shown by the comments in forums like this. Apple sets the standards that other companies try to reach or exceed. I don't expect that to change any time in the near future. It's quite a phenomenon.
Competing companies are still trying to figure out how Apple has engineered their iPhone and iPad touch screens to operate so much faster than competing products.Samsung, which provides some components for iPhones, hasn't released a device that even comes close to having the quickness of an iPhone touch screen. We're not likely to see a lot of news stories about Samsung that tout that fact and Samsung is presumably glad about that.”
“If you take a sample of sexually abused boys and divide them by their age, and the gender of their abuser, you'll find that they share near identical long term consequences. The only difference being in severity, which is tied to the length of abuse vs gender.
In other words, a 8 year old abused by a male caretaker is just as likely to suffer severe mood/ mental disorders as a 14 year old boy having sex with his 22 year old female teacher.”

“Really, your position, which is the common misguided belief in this country, is based solely on a strange desire to seen teenagers the same as 8 year olds, that is until those same teenagers commit a crime, then all of a sudden those same people want to charge them as adults. Apparently, they know what they're doing when they commit a crime, but not when they have consensual sex. It doesn't make any sense.”
The Notorious PDF on Oct 8, 2013 at 05:06:53
“There's no trauma or mental disorders to a 14 year old having sex with a 22 year old. If there's an adverse effect, it's because it's their teacher, not because of their age. It's a modern social agenda to tell people that they're "traumatized", nothing more. It's not actually a thing. If it's an 8 year old, then there are huge damaging in effects, because it's an 8 year old, and a prepubescent child is obviously incapable of consenting to sex. A child has no sexual functions or sexuality. Teenagers on the other hand have sexual desires and have sex for the same reason adults do, so it's absurd to conflate the two. ”
I'm sorry but you speak a giant misconception re; child abuse.
Most child abusers were abused as children, however the vast majority of abused children do NOT become abusive. There was a bbc study that followed 226 abused boys after they were taken from their abusive environment. After 15 years, 27 had a criminal record for sexual abuse.
Those boys were also the ones that had the weakest support system, and didn't go to counseling.
The vampire myth is a big problem among sexual abuse victims and is a falsehood that does much more harm then it helps.”
“I disagree. They are screened very well. It's just that not all organizations are the same.
Some are actively aware that they attract predators and respond accordingly. Others keep their head in the sand and refuse to acknowledge that the demographic of adults that want to work with kids is polarized between the very caring and predators seeking a large sample of vulnerable kids to manipulate and abuse.
Most organizations are becoming more responsible and actively pursue strict background/character checks in addition to putting volunteer/staff potential through several pedophile/predator screening behavioral tests.
This organization is disgusting and should be disbanded though. Talking about being discreet screams of boy scout/ catholic church scandal.”
Some statistics for concerned parents and guardians:
1.) 60 of all childhood sexual assault happens at home and is committed by mothers, fathers, siblings, and uncles/aunts.
2.) Girls are much more likely to be assaulted by family members and boys are much more likely to be assaulted by family friends/ teachers/counselors, etc.
3.) Sexually abused boys are most likely to be violently offended while girls are more likely to be threatened/manipulated.
4.) Men are predominately arrested for sexual abuse but studies indicate that female predators are much more common than assumed, and the majority get away with it.
5.) Good child oriented organizations acknowledge that their industry is magnetic to predators and actively prepare against them by: a.) recording their premises, b.) performing in depth background checks on potential staff and volunteers, and c.) Run a series of predator profile interview questions that bring up red flags--- or behaviors and opinions that pedophiles commonly have (e.g., the misplaced notion that young children are emotionally mature as adults).
So protect your kids and teach them the difference between good touch and bad, support a network where secrets are discouraged, and most importantly be aware that your family members are unfortunately the most likely to hurt your child. Parents definitely included.
For daycare, ask what precautions the organization is taking against predators. And most importantly, don't assume male caretaker is bad and female caretaker is good.”
