“If it was anyone else, it wouldn't have been nearly as big a deal, if one at all. That's not a defense of Williams, but more of a comment on how "classy" has never been used in the same sentence as her without dripping in sarcasm. Anything she does even slightly questionable is going to be blown up. This really is a non-story.”

bmcadams on Aug 6, 2012 at 15:37:03

“well, your point (if anyone else had done it, it wouldn't be a big deal) is correct, but it's precisely because serena has failed to be sportsmanlike time and time again that it's so. i am a tennis fanatic, and she is without a doubt one of the greatest women ever to play the game. unfortunately, she is also without a doubt, one of the most classless (arguably THE most). i don't have a problem at all w/ the dance, but doing it on this stage is just, sadly, serena being serena. doing it at the US open, which is a much more casual environment, wouldn't have been so bad. but this is the olympics and these athletes are supposed to represent the pinnacle of talent and sportsmanship. it was embarrassing.”

Usain Bolt On Carl Lewis: 'I Have No Respect For Him'

“Carl Lewis is an attention seeking hypocrite. An admitted doper pointing the finger at everyone else. I find it ironic anyone would talk about Bolt's class when Lewis is the one who started flapping his mouth about doping. But hey, don't anyone DARE question US athletes, even when the US is pointing fingers. The best doping program in the world since the Eastern Bloc.”

onlythetruth83 on Aug 14, 2012 at 04:02:18

“you know there doping man. why even try to defend it. yes almost all athletes use something to give them a edge. and i am 99.9% certain mr bolt has taken something he shouldn't of taken. and i am 100% sure afirca knows there athletes are doing this. and dont do random testing cause of it. its not hard to pass a drug test if you know exactly when you need to take it.”

“What Rogers doesn't tell you is why they have less dropped calls. It's because they have one of the worst networks. Anytime I find myself somewhere I can't get a signal, someone usually says to me, "Oh, you must be on Rogers." My last was at Vaughn Mills Mall, when the cashier said to me, "Anytime someone can't get a signal, they have Rogers. If you want to complain, they are actually right next door." So I can actually believe they have less dropped calls, only because those times I can get a signal, I don't usually lose it.”

Chick-Fil-A: An Example of How We Teach Our Children a Culture of Hate

“It reads like left wing pseudo-intellectualism. Their are so many fallacies, but my favourite is when she talks about blacks being considered 3/5 human, and references a link which actually explain many people believe just that. But the crux is that many people aren't against gay marriage due to hate, but belief. While I couldn't care less who marries who, I've had several people explain that their anti-gay marriage stance has nothing to do with anti-gay, but pro-marriage, including several near and dear to me. They would even support civil unions. Leaving the argument of the differences aside, that certainly doesn't sound like the position of hate. And some who support Chic-Fil-A have said while they support gay marriage, they support free speech and/or religious freedom. But it is much easier for the self-rightous (the author, not you) to judge without asking or understandin”

“Without corporations, there'd be no workers. And Sid is the biggest hypocrite of the all. He supported the unions at Air Canada by stating that the unions had nothing to do with the global downturn, and therefore shouldn't suffer because they were losing money. Then he said that all workers deserve to share in company profits when CAT wanted to pay floor sweepers less than $34/hour. Then there's the BS he keeps spewing about bank bailouts. I still haven't determined on that one if he is a liar or stupid.”

“People think racism is the only issue preventing harmony among the different people of the US. It is the biggest, but not the only. The other is those who have an agenda to keep the embers of racism burning, by seeking out racism where none exists. As long as these people continue to be allowed to fan the flames unchecked, we will never achieve harmony.

Watching the Watchdog: Have We Forgotten the Media's Raison D'Être?

Commented Apr 5, 2012 at 20:33:33 in Canada

“As you say, it is more important than ever for unbiased journalism, with citizen "journalists" and "alternative" news sources who say you can't trust main stream media while, ironically, filtering everything through their own slanted lens. Yet, everything today has become so partison that opinion is based on who is said, not what was said. Making a truly informed decision has never been so hard. And we are us much to blame as anyone, deciding whether we are left or right before we know what it is we'e forming an opinion on. The information age has , ironically, sent us backwards. There is as much misinformation as information. And everytime a true journalist writes a story with their own political slant, itupushs more and more to the less reliable sources. And it is that that is driving a wedge between everyone.”

Watching the Watchdog: CBC's Going Down Without a Fight

Commented Mar 27, 2012 at 14:06:13 in Canada

“Excellent points. IMO, there's been a culture of self-importance and holier than thou that has eroded the once admirable integrity of the CBC. The Ford fiasco is a perfect example. The only thing more ridiculous than Ford's reaction that day was CBC's defense. I actually saw the report 40 minutes after it happened, and it was still dark. Yet when anyone questioned CBC, the attitude was one of "We're the CBC! We don't have to prove anything!" And it were as though doubting their integrity was un-Canadian. Too bad, really. They used to be a source of pride”
