“hi,

Something happens when their stomach is stapled, a hormone is released that apparently makes them want to eat less. Actually, it occurs because when their stomach is stapled, the tiny part is stretched - the stretching causes the hormones to be released. So, they really shouldn't want to eat more.
Maybe after a while the message that the hormone sends is no longer heard by the brain. Also, some people figure out ways to eat more and gain weight - like chocolate milkshakes. They go down easy and digests fast so more calories can get into their tiny tummies.
Go figure - and that's a pun”

“I've had a lot of these patients in the hospital and never understood the part you just told me ,Thanks Janicemh

it seems like it would safer to take that hormone before eating than undergoing surgery , which can have serious complications. Wound healing is very poor in the obese., though I guess a lot is being done laproscopically if it can be.
