“The People's Budget. Funny how all communists name their little projects the same. The People's this and the People's that. In the end the "People" are the ones getting oppressed and controlled. We fought communism and won. Now it's back and the enemy is from within. I fear what a Soviet Union style civilization will be like with today's technology. Scary.”

“Show the corporations that hire hundreds of thousands of americans the door? Liberals never think things through too much do they?”

Alan Richard on Apr 14, 2011 at 11:23:22

“Yeah, show them the door. Have you looked at what's happened to jobs during the last 30 years of "feed the rich and they'll feed everyone else" policy? Or maybe you haven't been living down here with the plebs like the rest of us. When you couple the reduction in real wages and the reduction in benefits with health industry profiteering, we are literally dying of this corporate welfare. Literally, not figuratively. Yes, tax the rich. Let them go to the empire's periphery for awhile if they think that will save them. Those people know what's up too and eventually they will run out of places to run.”

“Citi Bank and Chase have been hiring hundreds of thousands of people in the last couple of years. GE has hired additional hundreds of thousands for all those new wind turbines and railroad engine and passenger cars for our expanding modern mass transit systems. Oh, wait. What's that you say? Their sitting on their assets that were given them in the bail out. I'd better go back and check my numbers. What's that? Am I a Republican? Foolish question. They never check the numbers. They pull them out of their ......, or God gives them to them.”

“90% of new maximum for SS tax would kill the economy and cause a nationwide collapse. Think about it, you would basically be working for free.”

Bryan Frentz on Apr 13, 2011 at 18:18:07

“It think that the rates (6.75% for individuals and 12.5% for self-employed) would stay the same, but 90% of income in excess of the current cap would be subject to FICA taxes. For example, if you earned $205,000 then $90,000 would be subject to FICA ($205,000 minus the current cap $105,000 times 0.9). If you are employee that would equal a tax increase of $5,625 or self-employed that would equal an increase of $11,250. Those increases are from FICA alone without an increases in income tax.”
