“I would hardly call Adam Carolla, "hostile". Comedians are supposed to dissect comedy from the tragedy of life... which means they have an ability to make us laugh at what hurts. Anyone can make us laugh at the already light hearted.”
“With a title like "What nine months of pregnancy actually does to a woman's body", I thought this was going to show more than a few women's stretch marks... like the before and after childbearing and the inner biological changes from the stress of pregnancy.”
“I think we are saying the same thing, Stephen. I've been married for decades, but in truth... only did the wedding thing cuz it was an opportunity to have a big party.
A commitment of love = "permanent joining of people who will function as a unit from that point forward, among other things."
A ceremony to celebrate with family and friends = "public declarations that a permanent union has been formed that all of society need respect, revere, and support."”
“What is marriage? A ceremony to celebrate with family and friends and licensing in order to enrich the state. A commitment of love requires neither.”

“That sounds like you are referring more to the wedding ceremony than to marriage.
People have different kinds of wedding ceremonies to suit their lives and traditions. Most serve as public declarations that a permanent union has been formed that all of society need respect, revere, and support.
Marriage is an entirely different deal. It implies a permanent joining of people who will function as a unit from that point forward, among other things.”
“Phelps' protests and hate fests turned into gatherings of love and support for the people that his church were protesting. I was inspired to see how many rallied for strangers... just because it was the right thing to do.”
“What an uninformed article! I lived in South Dakota in the 60's... attended the 7th Day Adventist Church and ate tons of delicious vegetarian food long before most people even knew what it was.
As to China... a friend who recently traveled there, said that within a few blocks of where she stayed, there was about 50 different versions of vegan tofu dishes. Asia, India and several Mediterranean countries mastered vegetarian cuisine long before westerners gave it a thought.
Omnivores are in the majority everywhere... we get it. However, that is not even a vague deterrent to a creative vegan. The only place listed that it might be tough to find good vegan food is Iceland... because it is so far north and fresh veggies are rare and prohibitively expensive.”
“I've been called a lot of things... but find none of those mentioned as even remotely offensive.
BTW, the way that a low paid waitress or cashier speaks to you is a reflection of their class and education... not a reflection on you.”

“As well it's not meant to be hurtful or dismissive.
And I like being old, I wouldn't be young again for any money (unless I could keep my wisdom)”
“Parenting brings scrutiny from others... and so it should. It takes a village. However, the role of the village is inadequate and severely adds to the parenting burden. I was a single mother for many years... and had several people who saw me as inadequate offer to raise my son... but not one of those people offered any sort of help. There's your village...”

“We do not believe in the "village" in this country.”
“The DEA does not work for the American people... they work for the pharmaceutical companies. All those cancer patients are potential pharmaceutical cash cows and you were an obstacle to them getting every dime they can from sick people... until they die.
Marijuana was never made illegal because it is a true social hazard - like meth... it has always been about corporate interests.”

“Being an HSP is a gift... and like other gifts, it requires polish and discipline in order to glean the most from it.
Crying a lot is part of being an immature or damaged HSP. We grow up too and learn to channel our deeply felt emotions into strengths.”

“So true... once you decide to take responsibility for your own mental health, nothing anyone else does or says is of consequence... unless you want it to be.
I was suicidally depressed the first 25 years of my life... and nothing or anyone has kept me from a happy, fulfilling life since. Sure there's tragedy and loss along the way... and grieving; but life goes on, fueled by the choices we make..”
“How is breastfeeding an infant dehumanizing? The opposite is true. Infants sucking formula manufactured in a processing plant through a plastic nipple is dehumanizing.”

“No, I am not saying breast feeding is dehumanizing. I am saying forcing women, through law, is dehumanizing. How about letting the woman decide for herself? By taking this out of her hands, it basically says she is incapable of making decisions. Education, encourage...but laws demanding breast feeding? What will be next? Will they start making laws dictating what women may eat, how much they have to exercise, etc? while pregnant for the good of the child? Where does it end?”
