“The baby may have been still born and she didn't know what to do. We don't know anything to say she is in the wrong or not. So let's just wait to find out what happened before jumping to conclusions.”
“It is awesome to see people realize their dreams. People need to stop being so superficial and applaud that she got to make her dreams come true. Not all of us get that in life. so that is amazing to me.”
“Well Doctor, I worked for insurance companies. With health insurance, if you try to get a policy on your own you are underwritten to see if you are a liability for insurance. However, many group policies aren't underwritten. Many large groups policies do not have underwriting as a stipulation of the Benefits administrator. However, when the benefits admin finds a policy that is more cost effective for the group, they often will take a contract that is cheaper that will have an exclusion in the contract that stipulates that said condition is preexisting for 12 months of is an exclusion for the life of the contract. If you are employed and you've had the same job for ten years and you've been covered by your company policy and now you aren't. There is something wrong. Even Benefits admin in companies don't realize this and have to call the insurance companies to either make an exception (which we have done for our larger groups such as Ford ect) or they have to wait to until the end of the year and change contracts again and renegotiate. I've worked with tons of doctors offices and doctors are pretty much clueless about how insurance works. They get their HMO checks and payment and they don't care until we start denying claims. I know how pre existing condtions work. It is called underwriting a contract. So try to explain it someone who doesn't know. Because this was my job for a long, long time.”

“You are only talking about group policies, not individuals, and neither is relevant to this topic.”
“If someone follows me and I think I'm going to get attacked, I'd probably run screaming or fight them. I had someone follow me and I screamed my head off and scratched and hit them. They followed me right up to my apartment door. Lady, look. If you want to sound reasonably intelligent (which I really don't care how I sound to you or anyone else. this isn't a popularity contest) maybe you shouldn't tell someone to go not go on the same message boards that you seem to be apart of giving the same disinformation yourself. i'm not buying it. This man wasn't an officer. he was instructed by the police NOT to follow someone. Look at the situation he is in now. It all could have been avoided if he didn't attempt to play cowboy when he wasn't an officer of the law. He attempted to do what exactly? Prevent a crime that the police were apt enough to prevent? Maybe it wasn't bigotry which I have a hard time believing. Maybe it was just stupidity. But he murdered an unarmed individual with multiple shots. I heard the shots myself on the transcripts. So, I beg to differ with you on that.”

“(Continued from previous) The gated community in which Zimmerman lived had been plagued with crime. Usually when people live in a gated community, they pay more to own and rent the units there, and expect a safer living environment. Evidently that was not the case for The Retreat at Twin Lakes, since there had been numerous thefts, burglaries and etc. in the area, which resulted in an atmosphere of fear among the residents. Read about the background of the case, I think this is reasonably objective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Trayvon_Martin
Your nonsense about "prevent a crime that the police were apt enough to prevent" [?] is ridiculous. If no one knows which home a burglar broke into, how are the police supposed to do anything about it?
Again, try to put two and two together to get four here. Oh, wait - maybe you should start off with trying to put one and one together to get two.”

“I was a varsity track & cross-country runner in high school, and ran for years afterwards - until I started having trouble with my back (now I 'power walk' with my dog). I have been followed before. Those men had the right to be driving on the public roads, walking on the public sidewalks, jogging on the jogging trails, etc. I was the one who had a really bad feeling about them, so I took off. They may have done something to me if they could get ahold of me, or they may not have done anything at all, but I wasn't going to chance it.
Z lived in a community where the configuration of the homes did not allow for someone trying to pinpoint the location of a suspicious person could be accomplished by sitting in one's vehicle, because sidewalks branched out off the street. He said he followed at a distance to see where TM was going, in order to tell the police where TM went - which makes sense. Otherwise, when the police showed up, all he would be able to do is point in a general direction and say, "He went thataway!" which would be useless for the officer.

“Oh, shut up. I ran competitively in high school, and continued running for many years afterwards. Sometimes I would participate and compete in 5K's and etc., otherwise I would just run for health. I have been followed before, actually several times, while running - both in the middle of the day (in one case two men in a van tried to grab me), early in the morning when I was running before going off to work, and in the evening after I came home from work. I was on a public street or sidewalk, so I had just as much right to be there as those men; but since I was uncomfortable with their presence, I ran off and either hid or got help.
Your nonsense about "he was instructed by the police" is cr*p. Z had the right to ascertain the whereabouts of the 'suspicious-looking person' whom he had seen - i.e., TM. TM could have just gone home, and he would still be alive today. But, being the angry, troubled youth that he was, he did not. Google his tweets on his twitter address of NO_LIMIT_N***A (just guess what the asterisks stand for). I am just as shocked at the stuff he tweeted to others as I am amazed that his now-doting custodial mother didn't keep better tabs on his social media activity.”
“Ok your logic here is just ridiculous. If you have a flood and your purchase flood insurance after the fact, of course it won't be covered because you didn't have the insurance before. The event already occurred. Health insurance doesn't work like home owners or car insurance. Health insurance doesn't work at all like that no only that, there are federal mandates regarding insurance that go way back.”
Tigerclaw1 on Aug 8, 2012 at 08:59:19
“I am a doctor, I know for a fact you are wrong. I deal with this all the time. I diagnose diabetes in someone, then they try to get insurance, then a few weeks later I get paperwork regarding the timing of the diagnosis. It is a pre-existing condition at that point, and they either pay a much higher premium or they don't get covered. Besides, we were not talking about health insurance, but a liability policy.”
“They told him NOT to follow this person that they would take care of it many times. He totally didn't listen to them and decided to not just follow this person but to closely follow this young man. George Zimmerman has been heard saying very racial things before by his own neighbors. So there ya go.”
NancyY on Aug 8, 2012 at 09:19:42
“Try to put two and two together to get four here. Of course the police told Z not to follow TM. They weren't there, they didn't know the situation, they didn't know who Z was following or if this person had a gun. DUH. The point is MOOT, as Z had every right to follow TM anyway. TM did not own the sidewalk.
Care to provide a link as to the "racial things" you mentioned (from a credible source, not some cr*p racist blog)? That might take you a bit of time, as there were none. There was a report that he called a middle-eastern man in the office where he had worked "Achmed the Terrorist" after a comedian's puppet, but the man wasn't upset enough to report it to management. And, Here ya go, the FBI did not find any evidence of racism on Z's part during their investigation.
Suggestion: if you want to sound reasonably intelligent, stop relying on the lies from uneducated fools on HuffPost message boards and do a little research on your own.”

“And ... he ... will ... PAY for this heinous crime. He is a con-artist, a total bully and a coward. Karma will crush his every dream and incubate it in a six-by-four. Inside there, the killer may practise, until the cows come home, his self-appointed captaincy of security.
His years of assault, battery, domestic violence, molesting, kicking, beating and bullying will ricochet. I am cannot say I shall be sorry to learn of it. In fact, I trust he falls into oblivion with it.”

“We African American women are slaves to our hair. It mean it has become ridiculous. I mean, it keeps plenty of people from doing activities because they don't want to mess up their fresh perm or sweat out their perms or whatever. It is stupid. The girl is an athlete. we need to focus on her athletics and not on her relaxed hair. If she wears it natural, or relaxes and it is in a pony tail who cares. She just won a gold medal. Who can do that? Not most people.”
Wmof2011 on Aug 8, 2012 at 08:49:41
“Straight hair is not needed for a pony tail style. I say brush and go. Maybe a little protein moose for shine. But that's it.”

“I wish more people would understand things like you do. She doesn't need to worry about her hair. It looks fine the way it is and to top it all off she is beautiful and that freakin smile. Man! I'm happy she is such a great athlete and setting such a great example for young girls not to be vain or worried about little things such as hair. She had a dream and she accomplished it. Way to go Gabby. I hope that she since she is relatively young for gymnastics to see her in 4 years in Rio. I love watching her fly. All the best.”
“I wonder where her parents, partner, health care professionals and support system were. I guess when you are so close to someone you just wanna believe that they wouldn't do the worst of the worst. I just don't know.”

“Yes I think you are right. You just can't imagine this happening. If her husband truly had nothing to do with this I feel so badly for him. Gut wrenching stuff.”
“How is this a lack of intelligence? Plenty of people feel the same as I do around the world and are actually having nurse ins to exert their right of maternity. I should say that you know nothing about the way my children are raised (quite well), what I do for a living, what my intellect is or isn't. A lack of intelligence would mean that I have the inability to learn and filter information. i don't have that. I have chosen to put the physical needs of my children before anyone else's comfort. I chose attachment parenting with my children and I have happy, well adjusted children due to this. Raise your children as you will but i think in the end, I won't have my kids dressing up in diapers when their adults and asking people to do strange things to them because their parents over sexualized everything. Nursing isn't sexual and if you think that, you are indeed a strange individual. Take your neocolonial attitudes and shove it.”
“It is a territory but Puerto Ricans themselves even consider it as an ethnicity. They are mixed with African ancestory, Taino ancestry and Spanish. Also, people call Puerto Ricans Spanish. I've always considered Puerto Ricans and people from certain isles as distinct ethnic groups because of their ethnic mixes.”
“Lmao no, they are breasts and when you nurse every two hours or every hour on the hour in your own home, there is no issue to it. Morally corrupt? Not at all. My children have stellar morals. Their parents don't sexualize everything like you seem to do. Something is truly wrong with your thinking. If you go to a village in rural Senegal, women are nursing regularly around the whole family and people don't bat an eye. It isn't sexualized at all. There is nothing sexual in nursing a child and if you think there is, there is something seriously wrong with you!”

“I see that but wow. I have sympathy for her plight. However, she murdered her own children who were protesting their own murder. Man, how could you see your children begging to live and just kill them. Real or perceived danger or threat I couldn't kill anyone.”

“I can't imagine it either. But I am not clinically depressed and don't hear voices in my head either ;). To me it's scary that just a little bit of changed chemistry in your brain can alter the way you are able to perceive reality. I hope we'll never know...”
“That is true. As I've said, I'm somewhat sane so that is why I don't get it. But I'm a mother and I don't believe under any circumstances that I'd kill my children like that. She was sick. She needed meds and treatment and those around her to support her in that treatment.”
“Man kill yourself. You have that right however misguided it may be but people have their reasons. She was sick and obviously whatever treatment seemed to make her think it was the end of the game and she couldn't do it anymore. However, why take other people with you? I just don't get that. However, I'm somewhat sane.”

“a lot of times the person believes that the others are better off dead and believe that they are "saving" them, and doing something good.
a mind that has reached that state of desperation and darkness does not think with the same logic or rationale as a clear, stable mind. they often have such a negative view of the world that they convince themselves that their children (or whoever they take with them) will only be doomed to suffer, so they believe they are helping them”

“Yes I don't understand the dynamics of this either. Who knows what's going on in their head. What is really scary to me is mental health professionals cannot seem to predict this. Maybe psychiatrists do prevent this and we're not aware of it?”
“True but if people let people be who they are and mind their own business. It shouldn't be an issue. People are people and by an accident of birth you are born who you are. There isn't a divine plan or anything. So if people are gay, let them be. If they are straight let them be. Look at people for who they are and freakin appreciate them. Sheesh.”
“I don't know what futher reference but I do know that if you are going to insult someone's intelligence, you might want to get a spell check to learn how to spell further. Maybe you should reread your own comments. :)”

“I would much rather make a simple error in spelling, than to make an overwhelming error in intelligence... which obviously, you are severly lacking!!”
“Lmao Please. I live in France. People are topless on the beaches every summer and my children don't bat an eye. They are just breasts. Yes people display them in public and people nurse in public. So what. That woman may have made some poor judgement but I doubt she's an abuser. Let me ask you this since I'm quite sure you don't have kids? How is she going to hide nursing her baby from her older child when they live in the same house? You are really silly. I'm over here shaking my head at your assumptions which are very wrong GROS CON. :)”
tbrokmeier on Aug 5, 2012 at 23:32:23
“I am sure that you are shaking your head... maybe you are simply trying to see if there is anything up there, which is extremely doubtful!! Maybe your reason that your children do not bat an eye is because they have been brought up in a morally corrupt household!! After all, there is no accounting for the lack of taste in France!! If you can not figure out how to breastfeed your younger child without your older child being there to watch, that simply displays your complete lack of intelligence!! ”
