“The logic is less flawed than the counter arguement from the other side. Botom line is that it is easier to grab the guns or make it harder in the long run for the people in the US who obey the law or to pass a law to just say they passed a law, than to deal with the real causes of gun crime in the US, poverty, unemployment/under employment, poor housing, poor nutrition, a failing educational system and poorly run prison systems.”
“No fix the law to begin with. Look to what the NRA proposed in 1986 for the NIC system since they were the architects and what came out at the other end when the Congress wrote the law. 3 X the number of people per year or more could be saved if the DOJ followed the current law.”
“This is exactly why the 2nd Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights and no one will ever talk about it. They always reference hunting or personal protection. I was waiting in the Senate debate for one of the good senators to get up and give a true history of the 2nd Amendemnt. I was lucky that I didn't hold my breath.”
“NY has a very poor performance by their officers in shooting incidents. I think if someone checked that the good mayors of that city might have something to do with it. Lowering the performance standards and firearm training because they don't like guns and do not want to pay for the training.”
“What about lighting a big fire under Eric Holder and have the DOJ start prosecuting gun crime at the Federal level? In addition why did the good President stop the investigation of Holder and the DOJ on Fast and Furious citing executive privilage?”
“Unfortunately you are correct aabout the President. I supported the man since 2007 and when he took the tact to attack the 2nd Amendment and how he went about it he and the DNC lost all of my support.”
“15,000 police officers were polled in the US. I would have liked to have seen a larger sample, but the outcome was that all of the arguements for gun control being made were rejected by the officers. Thoise polled were of all ranks and included Department Chiefs.”
“The 90% was a result of two very poorly sampled and run polls that the left jumped on for examples. That number did not at all sync with other more reliable polls run on the subject of background checks. The measures failed not because of the NRA or maybe the NSSF but because all politics is local. There are definitely more red states than blue and what you see is what you get. In addition the Senators knew that the proposals were skirting an infringement on the 2nd Amendment. I watch most all of the debate starting on Tuesday and I can say the Democrats arguments were weak and were filled with allot of false truths. Most of the testimony in support of the bills was salted with those who favored gun control and their argument were poor also. The NIC system needs fixing that is for sure and I hope they revisit it fairly soon.”
“The Democrats are good for early prison release for felons and because we in the US do not rehabilitate but we incarcerate only these felons cannot find employment so the next thing they do is steal a gun and commiot more crimes. The Democrats have screwed up the judicial system and all they know what to do is ban guns!”
“The guns being discussed are not assault weapons, but only assault style weapons. Get your base fact correct. The real issue is that the weapons that are being debated and discussed are onlt involved in less than 150 homocides/shooting a year? Why are these guns being discussed? Only because the Democrats have protrayed them as dangerous and that is it.”
“The Democrats do not know how to deal with poverty, education, affordable housing, jobs and what we are talking about here, gun violence all things they have had a big influence on so it is easier to ban guns than deal with the real issues which face the US today.”
“The Internet is just a method of connect private sellers. It is the newspaper of the 21st century. The sale does not proceed unless it is face-to-face or it must go through a FFL dealer. People who think about Internet sales like it was Amazon or Groupon or a big box website are only fooling themselves.”
“You need to do your homework about how the system operates. If you think you are going to get a ground swell of activity to change Congress you are smoking the wrong stuff. In addition the GOP has done a real good job on redistricting to insure that they will be able to control Congress if not two out of three branches. All politics are local. Obama and some Democrats got elected in 2011 but it was not by much of a margin and most certainly not a mandate.”

“you need to do your homework in order to internalize the facts....yep you're right about redistricting....but the FALLACY OF YOUR POSITION is caused by your failure at reading comprehension. When I said 98% I meant 98%. This issue cuts across party lines and even the dimmest of us are tired of this congress. And if you think otherwise just show me any statistic that indicates they're doing a bang up job.
The folks the NRA supported won almost none of their races. They had less than 1% return on their contributions.
Now go learn how to read and get back to us when you have something to say.”
“The people of W. VA are more concerned about eating than about "Gun Control". Actually only 4% of the American people believe that "Gun Control" has a priority over more important issues facing us today. Check your polls and check your statistics.”

“You missed the point completely as I did not make this a state issue. Just supporting the fact that this man comes from a state that does use guns generally for their intended use and if he says the NRA is telling less than the truth you can believe him.
He is carrying out his duty as a US Senator to promote the greater good of this country. Right or wrong I commend him on his efforts. The senseless deaths in this country related to gun violence is an important issue among many other important issues you allude to. I'm sure if it were your family member gunned down you would be more amenable to the thought process here!”
“The decenting Senators will be reelected if they choose to run for office again because they are representing the people who sent them to Washington. All politics is local. The private interest groups supply the money and the Senators/politicians have conveniced the electorate that they represent them. This is how your system of government works. It is not a Democracy but a Republic. Learn your Civics.”

“Right after you learn grammar and spelling, junior.”
“The "Gun Control Debate" is just a diversion from the real problems facing the US today. The government cannot deal with it they try to pass more laws and walk away and rarely solve the problem they need to correct.”
“Check the history of NICS starting with its development before 1986. The NRA were the architects of the system. The NRA has been consistent throughout the debate. They want the current system fixed and the laws surrounding the system followed by the US government and the DOJ before anything more is added. Dick Durbin used an example of a series of shootings five killed and nine wounded over a period or two weeks by a felon who bought a gun without a background check as an example of the "Why for......" If you follow the thread of the story the guy who sold the gun to him was a known "Straw Seller" by the DOJ and the felon tried to purchase a gun with a legal sale was denied and allowed to walk. This is the kind of situations the Democrats tout as a reason "Why for....." and they fail to apply logic that if the gun seller or the felon was stopped when their intents and actions were known by the DOJ the shooting/killing spree would never have happened.”

“That was then, and this is now. The NRA is Obstructing our law-making process.”
“Tiger and most of the top twenty could care less about the purse of a tournament. I think maybe the caddy is the only one. Endorsements is where they make their money. Tiger is playing with consistency. If he holds that line and does not reinjure himself he will eventually reach his life goal of being the best male golfer of all time.”
“Someone has to keep the record to show that the check was conducted and the chain of custodity. FFL dealers do not want anything more to do with the private sales, so it would fall onto the seller without penality. If it is without penality another new variety of a "Straw Purchase or Sale" has been created and you now do not have a universal background check. Take or cjhange the 2nd and you can kiss the 1st, 4th, 5th and 10th goodbye too. I agree with you about Bush, but we sure don't need a liberal to add insult to injury.....”

“Another "if it won't work 100%, then don't do it" post.
There is nothing in background checks that changes the 2nd amendment and you know it. As a matter of fact the term "well regulated militia" don't you get? The founding fathers obviously recognized that some regulation might be needed.”
