“@Kay, thanks for the response. LOL For years I've pondered the word DISGRUNTLED and wondered if the opposite should be "gruntled." Perhaps "ungruntled" or "nongruntled?" Sounds darned negative in any form, tho... Hey, everybody gets to be disgruntled about something, it's human nature. Peace on...”

“Imagine that the English were responsible for something comparable to Machu Picchu, the Egyptian pyramids, Angkor Wat, the Parthenon, Rome, or the Great Wall. Imagine that the English were responsible for something comparable to the alphabet, numbers, math, philosophy, or politics. The rest of the world would never hear the end of it.

The mystery of Stonehenge is the question of how it came to be located in such a backward place. A "documentary" I suffered through a few years ago proposed that a mysterious visitor from the south was responsible. There has to be a plausible explanation, right? ;)”

“Matthew 19:11-12

11 But he said to them, "Not all men can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. 12 For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it."

Can Your Brain Fall in Love?

Can Your Brain Fall in Love?

Commented Apr 5, 2012 at 10:16:09 in Healthy Living

“The following excerpt from the book "Intuition", by R. Buckminster Fuller:

God gave humans a faculty
beyond that of their and other creatures'
magnificent physical brains --
and that unique faculty
is the metaphysically operative mind.

Brains apprehend and register
store and retrieve
the sensorial information
regarding each special-case experience.

Mind alone can and does
discover heretofore unknown
integral pattern concepts
and generalized principles,
apparently holding true
throughout whole fields of experience.
And once discovered by mind
the concepts of the generalized principles
become additional special-case experiences,
and are stored in the brain bank
and are retrievable thereafter by the brain.
But brains and their externalized
detachedly operating descendants --
the electronic computers --
can only search out and program
the already experienced concepts,
and mind alone can recognize and capture
the unknown and unexpectedly existent,
ergo, unsearchable, unwatched-for
generalized principles.
If you do not know
the behaviors exist,
you cannot be
on watch for them.

Weightless, perceptive, prescient mind
alone enabled humanity
also to conceive ways to employ
the (only subjectively acquired) concepts
of generalized principles,
such for instance as leverage,
which empowered men
to conceive of practical ways
to both elevate and move
objects manyfold their own weights,
or that of their direct muscles'
lifting, pushing and pulling abilities.”
