“I agree that children shouldn't be taken because of their names, but did no one read this part?: "A state appeals court ruled in 2010 that the children were put at risk of abuse and neglect based on a history of domestic violence in the home, ABC News reported. Deborah Campbell once slipped a note under a neighbor's door saying she was terrified of her husband because he had threatened to kill her, according to court documents. Adolf Hitler Campbell also frequently threatened to kill people, ABC News added."”

“You've targeted the issue...headlines here are ALWAYS misleading. Just like the one for the grandma who let her 10 year old grandchild drive. That headline read that what Grandma did was "shocking." (Grandma let kid drive, then, after the accident, switched places with the kid.) No, it wasn't "shocking". It was stupid.”
“You know what? I was naive at that age and was with some kids who shoplifted and was taken in with them when they were busted. I told the cops my name was Courtney Love. Do you know what they did to punish me? Made me sit there until my mom came to get me, then I had to come back and watch a video about why shoplifting is bad. I am white.”
“You know, it isn't the fact that he is or is not a closet racist that troubles me as much as the fact he openly admits his plan on taking away the reproductive choices of women (of all color). Why is no one screaming about that?”

“The man is a doctor and those are his views....but think for a second....exactly how much power does a president really have? I mean seriously?? Obama can't get a break, you really think Paul if he becomes president is suddenly gonna have all this power to what the heck he pleases? He's not Bush!!”
“Glad you're enjoying it thus far! The first time I read it I was blown away.......could not get the imagery of the novel out of my head for days afterwards. I also recommend "Suttree" also by McCarthy. Very different...but a great character study. "Child of God", also by McCarthy is very good as well, and just as disturbing as "Blood Meridian".”

“I wouldn't say "recognized Neighborhood Watch captain" so much as self-appointed serial 911 caller. NW does NOT suggest approaching suspicious individuals as you suggest. They watch, and watch only, so they can give detailed reports to officials whom they call if needed. They do not advocate approaching anyone, and specify that no weapons are to be carried in NW.”

“Weloosmom, you need some information.
Zimmerman was not "self-appointed", he was appointed by the the Retreat at Twin Lakes homeowners association. And if you were better informed about what Neighborhood Watch personnel actually did, instead of running off at the mouth, you'd know that making many phone calls to 911 was part of the job description.
There is nothing in the Neighborhood Watch manual that limits watch personnel to observation, they can continue to observe at a distance to direct police to suspicious police when they arrive.
FYI: Zimmerman was not on Neighborhood Watch patrol the night of the incident. He was on his way to the local Target store when he saw what he felt was a suspicious looking person inside the community.”

“That should be Charles Bronson not Charles Bronsen.”

“And self-appointed vigilante playing Charles Bronsen with a death wish four serial times.”
“Well besides her emotional stress she has to deal with hours of questioning from police, because as a parent (especially a mother) of a missing child YOU are automatically the suspect. (Yet, parents who leave their children in hot cars in summer are let off the hook almost always.) Justice!”
“Exactly! They use it in hopes of scaring a confession out of a suspect, but it is totally unreliable. If it were reliable it would be admissible in court. Also, I love how everyone already assumes this mother is guilty. She has a really good reason not to "cooperate with police," that being even if she did not do anything wrong she could say something to incriminate herself- the famous "changing your story" and end up in jail innocent or not. It is called Obstruction of Justice and they can slap it on you if they feel you have contradicted yourself. It happens often. They need to focus on evidence.”

“you make very valid points, Sadly.
I believe it is another glimpse of the effects of our governing bodies, and its various extensions (law enforcement) long slow change into a machine geared not for protection of the society it is sworn to serve, but of profit (tangible and otherwise). Its the effect of these elements now being corporate entities, not the representatives, or officials charged and sworn to guide, build and protect the society know as the United States of America
and as we now see, it is the reason and justification for the American people to make concerted address for change..”
“Are you serious? I don't see where it says she got an award or prize for it. It is just an extremely rare disease and even more so for her ethnicity. Don't feel too cheated, since people with Progeria usually don't make it long.”
