“Heh. If I was the Health Minister of a country where 47% of under 5s are malnourished, I might be aggrieved by the importation of disease too. As for minority attacks, there are so many minorities attacked here - as in injured and killed - (including the Minister's own) that a conservative LGBT-verbal bash counts for very little.”
“Maybe what the Minister was trying to say was that homosexuality is not a central concern in our tradition - it doesn't get much mention in the Veda, or Mahabharat or Vedanta or Purana where we tend to find descriptions of almost everything else from infant marriage, transvestism, polyandry, polygyny, and so forth. There's condemnation in late recensions of the Manu Smriti, and descriptions in the Kama Sutra though that could be interpolations after foreign irruptions, and are hardly central texts. The issue doesn't occupy the importance (either celebration or condemnation) that it does in Middle Eastern cultures.”

“If that's what you think "the Minister was trying to say", you must have taken some very advanced courses in Creative Reading.
But I must say, that's the most imaginative defense of a verbal attack on a minority I've read in awhile.”
