“I wish the native Americans had ICE”

Hoodooman on May 1, 2012 at 22:28:07

“Many Apache (in the 1800's) wished that Mexicans didn't steal their women and children too, so what's your point?”

Papers Please on May 1, 2012 at 15:43:06

“Native Americans weren't Mexicans, so why do you care?”

timesrtough on May 1, 2012 at 11:18:15

“But they didn't and the opportunity is gone. Such is life and history.
Numerically, they wouldn't have need ICE but because:
They couldn't communicate with each other
In many cases they were at war with each other
They lack what was they considered modern technology
They lost the chance to evict the European explorers.
Was that good or bad, each has its own point of view.
Would America be the same w/o the "newcomers", probably not.
Would the world have all of the inventions, medicines, technology, libraries, etc and comforts that have been shared around the globe, probably not.
America might have more buffalo but might not have cures for diseases, immunizations, a space program, etc.
Do we need ICE to stop the flow of unskilled, uneducated labor from illegally entering our country? Yes.
You can wish they had ICE but I question your willingness to do without all of the modern conveniences and benefits that have resulted because ICE wasn’t around.
It is a nice romantic notion but ….”

I am sure I have been to way more games then the two of you combined, therefore I see the decline. You have no perspective to gauge the situation. To you, this must look completely normal. I get it.”

“90% of Americans dont walk into museums for the sake of seeing art, They watch 2 1/2 men or American Idol. Sometimes you have to take the art out of the museums and display it where they can see it. Specially if the Art has social value. Just saying.”

El Verdad on Feb 25, 2011 at 15:29:06

“Sigh. There is no social value to vandalisim.

First of all, 80% of all people know that 60% of all statistics are made up.

Secondly, I bet 90% of all people don't live within 50 miles of an art museum.

And I don't know about you, but every time I have gone to the Art Institute of Chicago, or the Met, it was packed, even on a random weekday. And, while there, I have never seen anyone trying to scrub a painting off of a canvas, which is more than I can say about grafitti.”
