“Well that's a broad and totally inaccurate generalization. I alone disprove it. I also find it repulsive that you're taking away attention from the women and turning the situation political. Get a grip.”

“i must apologize for my comments on this story. they were callous and
stupid. im dealing (not well) even on meds with a lot of stuff,
including parents with dementia”
“It's the life of potentially wrongfully accused people who have been subjected to a decade of imprisonment without a trial, without a charge, and without a convinction. A human life is a human life, no matter what country we are from.”
“Homosexuality aside, the Bible supports women being subordinate to men, another example of inequality. The Bible also contains a few ridiculous laws (not principles but laws) - you cannot sit in a chair an unclean woman has sat in, you cannot cut your beard, etc - which are outdated. The principle of slavery is supported in the Bible as well, because laws around how slaves should be treated and regulated are described, but slavery is not condemned in any passage at all. These inequalities - between gays, women, slaves, etc - are not acceptable to me.”

“The issue with men not sitting in the same chair as a woman dealt with women who were going through their period if I'm not mistaken. If you could fin d the verse where it says that I'll be more than happy to discuss it with you. Also, that was a law in the old Testament, given to the Jews. Unless you're a Jew and completely ignore the fact that Jesus died to start a new law so we wouldn't have to follow that old one since it was design for a certain group of people in a certain time period, you don't have to follow it.
The slave question is another study on it's on. I'm not ignoring the question, I just prefer to tackle things one at a time”
“Oh I don't know. Maybe the hundreds of thousands of LGBT people whose rights are oppressed and they are still being bullied...to the point of suicide. Maybe those people. And the people who care about them....
In a perfect world, no one would care. But this isn't a perfect world.”
“I think that's just a stereotype. Any conclusive data that shows Christians care more about other people than non-Christians? Me, my dad, and my boyfriend (all non-Christian) have volunteered at a homeless shelter every week for the past three years. I know plenty (seriously, I know a lot) of non-Christians who do a LOT of service. Good values and consideration for each other is taught in Christianity but it is also taught with good parenting...unfortunately Christianity also teaches outdated principles that a lot of people are unable to separate and integrate into modern times.”
Brent4673 on Apr 29, 2013 at 21:05:46
“What principals would you say are outdated? Also you're absolutely correct, I never meant to imply that only Christians know how to be nice to people. What I meant was that there are principals in that bible that, if followed, would put a lot of American on the right track.”
“Glad you're taking rape so seriously. Maybe if it happened to you you wouldn't find it so funny. Show a little sympathy.”
wxad on Apr 24, 2013 at 23:24:15
“And what makes you think I'm not taking rape seriously? Did I blamed the victim? Have I encouraged sexual abuse? You're an example why women's right and feminist movement that we fought so hard is now being given a bad taste. So please stop pretending and spare me of your pejorative and start looking in the mirror. Because apparently, you don't know me.”
“The Republic of Cambridge? It's not a coincidence that areas with the highest education are also the most liberal, if that's what you're getting at. Cambridge, and Boston, are beautiful places to live - I know.”
“I'm a Bostonian. Not ONCE did it even cross my mind to have a gun. You know what did? Locking, and dead bolting my door. I think that the professionally armed BPD and FBI, including all of their SWAT teams and thousands of police men can take care of an extremely dangerous man wearing explosives on him without my assistance.
Don't EVER speculate that you know what we are wishing. Cause you DEFINITELY have no idea what I am wishing. And FYI what I'm really wishing is that people like you would think before you speak.”

“I said the ones who have guns were probably locked and loaded. You never mentioned if you actually own one. I don't own any. If I were in that situation I would be wishing I did have one though. What if he broke into your house when the cops were a few blocks away? How are they going to save you? You'd be thinking differently then.”
“She technically did break the law. This island practices Shari'a law, which parallels Muslim law. Not saying that it's okay, it's obviously horrendous, but technically illegal.”

“Technically, wrong! This girl was raped for several years by her step-father! She was TOO YOUNG to CONSENT, in any event, to later sexual activities!”

“ALL Religions are made up by men who say THEY have the authority given to them by a 'higher' authority, the one that they made up.
In other words "you have to do what I say because 'GOD' says you have to.
To back this up they then write 'books' that are called the 'Bible', the 'Quoran' the 'Tora, etc. and that they were 'inspired' by this 'higher authority' to write these books.”
“I am in a committed relationship, but completely unafraid of being on my own (my boyfriend is the same) and I think that is what makes us so happy together. I go to the movies and baseball games by myself, see my girl friends weekly, am doing well in my career, and my independence tells my boyfriend that is he ever mistreated me, I'd be just fine without him. If I ever mistreated him, he'd be just fine without me, too, and therefore we strive to make each other happy. I think that being able to make yourself happy ensures that whether you are single or in a relationship, you will lead a very pleasurable and fulfilling life.”
“Actually someone did accuse her of not knowing her place. i.e. "Perhaps someone ought to remind the Senator that the campaign is over and she should act accordingly if she wants to be taken seriously"
Also, Elizabeth Warren has made no mention of anyone, including big banks, trying to overthrow the government. That is the reason no one accuses her of being a McCarthyite.
Finally, women make up 51% of the country. A woman as intelligent as Senator Warren probably knows this, and doesn't claim to be any sort of minority in the US. She, as well as Senator Cruz, are both minorities in the Senate for different reasons: one for ethnicity, and one for gender.
By the way, your immature name-calling makes you sound foolish.”
“Nothing makes me feel more confident that Elizabeth is exactly what we need than bank execs being so completely opposed to her being in any position of power. Happy to see the angry old rich white men shaking in their perfectly polished boots.”
What I am not disgusted by is the 6,000 comments this article has received. It's amazing that regardless of differences in opinion, this many people care either way and are keeping themselves updated and informed.
Hallelujah for some passion!”
