“My health plan is not greedy. It has covered my illnesses without complaint and sometimes the amount paid was exorbitant. I don't think the cancelled plans were poor plans. How do you know what was covered in Obamacare. The plan had over 1,000 pages. I thought it was decided that everyone has to pay a yearly fee for Obamacare. You are probably right, it will be subsidized.
There was a plan in place medicaid. I never understood, if there was a problem why didn't he just take care of the problem and make sure everyone was covered rather than turn the healthcare system upside down and not be able to handle the process.
The rest of the world to comes to America for surgery, etc., so to have a single payer system did not work. I understand you could die waiting for a surgeon. It has not worked that well in other countries. We had a wonderful system and if improvement was necessary, the problem could have been met.
Obama does play the race card. I don't fully remember the story but what about the professor he defended without researching the problem. By what you write, you obviously think he is a good president. I am having trouble with what he has been doing. Too bad, he was given an opportunity and I feel he messed it up.”
“I will try to believe htat he was sincere in trying to reform healthcare. You did not address the issue of what will happen to people who lost their health plans and they happen to get sick. His good intentions are lost, i.e., pre-existing conditions, covering women's healthcare more fully, lifting caps on lifetime limits. So, finally after all we wrote nothing good has come from Obamacare, just anxiety. He keeps getting a free pass whatever he does wrong, by playing the race card. Don't you be one of those people. He should be held responsibile for the pain he has caused.”

“I'm not 100% sure what is going to happen. My understanding is that most of the people cancelled had poor plans that did not cover some of the things that were mandated in Obamacare. Eventually they will have to sign up for another plan and if they can't afford it there will be subsidies.
Not to get into a long defense of the President but if insurance companies weren't so greedy we might have the single payer system a lot of the rest of the world has. I think Obamacare was a half conceived idea to get something in that ballpark, but it backfired.
I do not think that President Obama himself plays the race card.”
“You are missing what I am trying to say. How could racism exist if he won as President. If it exists it not a large majority. He is doing everything to himself. People did not want Obamacare but when he told them they can keep their health plans, it helped him win the election. That is not nice. So do not blame it on racism put the blame on him. He did not care enough about the people to be concerned about their future in health. That says a great deal about a person not his race.”
PCCNYC on Nov 19, 2013 at 11:58:31
“Two separate issues. Yes, I agree that there is probably less racism than there used to be as Obama was elected President. However, there are stories in the news every day highlighting possible or probable racism, so obviously it's still too prevalent in our country.
As far as Obamacare, I believe he was sincere in trying to reform healthcare. However, and I will admit this, it was horribly botched in its' execution. But such things as not discriminating against those with pre-existing conditions, covering women's healthcare more fully, lifting caps on lifetime limits, are not wrong.”
“palomino70 Are you aware that Barrack Obama won the election. Tell me how is he targeted for racisim if he won the election. I think he is targeted, the way every President was targeted for criticism, which people then use the race card.
Bungling Obamacare reflects to me his general attitude. He does not care that within the time that they try to fix the Bungle, some people will need the healthcare they had.
He is behaving cavalier on people's lives. I'VE GOT MINE" IS COMING THROUGH LOUD AND CLEAR AND THE PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON HAVE THERES. He is in no hurry. I am sure some people dislike him because he is Black but he certainly made it easy for people who like him to dislike him Is that what yu mean by two different things happening at the same time. (Being funny)”
“Your comments are also confusing. In life there is prejudice against all people by some people. You are so blinded with your views that you cannot even understand a simple statement. You want it to be race/color, for some reason, you want to keep this myth going. What is your problem. No this is not like Medicare Part D. The glitches were not at all the same as this particular problem. People were removed from their health plans. The signing up has been minimal so neither the rich, middle class or poor are interested in Obamacare. How do you know it was the GOP brainchild. Hillary Clinton worked on this as well when Bill Clinton was President and it died in the process. His ego made him want this to pass. Wasn't it up to one Judge that made it pass. I questioned what happened there. You should too. Most of the people did not want it. So, he told them they can keep there health plans and now we find out that is not possible. Lies, Lies, Lies. Explain to me what thrill do you get by adding a democrat, and a Black Democrat at that. You want to believe that is the cause of all the problems That is your prejudiced opinion. Again, you want to believe this is the problem. What are you motives for this. Unhealthy thinking, get over it.”
“God Bless You. When something is true it has nothing to do with color or race. His job is to get the best people for the job and to monitor that it is done correctly for the people who voted for him and supposedly the others”
“Hello fairandfriendly: I am fair and friendly as well. I cannot say that their isn't some prejudice against the President because he is Black. Please explain to me how he was elected and re-elected as President. You just want to believe that he is not to blame for anything because people are prejudice. He has to take responsiblity for what happened to Obamacare, which, by the way he did take responsibility for. You continue to mention that it is PREJUDICE instead of inefficiency which in my opionion is a lack of caring for anyone. Health care is very important to ALL people no matter what group they are in Democrat, Republican or Independent. So this is not political it is careless on the part of our Government.”

“It's possible for two different things to happen at the same time, and be unrelated.
First, Obama has been the target of racists. And, second, the rollout of Obamacare was bungled. These two things aren't mutually exclusive. And they're not even really related.”
fairandfriendly1 on Nov 17, 2013 at 00:19:00
“I am not talking about what he has or has not accomplished. I am saying that there are some people who do not like him as President only because he is black.”
CosmoGranny on Nov 16, 2013 at 23:22:08
“Your comment is a bit confusing. You admit that there might be some prejudice against the President because he is Black and then ask how he was elected twice. One does not negate or support the other. Evidently there are at least 51% of the voting public who put race/color aside to vote for him. That does not mean that the other 49% voted purely on race/color, but it also does not mean that none of that 49% were NOT prejudiced.
The red herring about the ACAA is pretty weak. When Medicare Part D was rolled out under W, the same kinds of glitches and delays yet THEN, the excuse was that these things happen and the Dems came together with the GOP to fix it. Now, we don't see that, and it is not because the law is so bad--it ws afterall a GOP brainchild to begin with--and it is not because the website is not working. It is because the GOP cannot stand the fact that a Democrat, and a Black Democrat at that, got this law put into effect. That in itself is an indication of more than just politics. Something a lot darker.”
“Dear Inreveus: It was very unfortunate that slavery existed and very unfair but you continue to beat the same drum over and over . Most of the Americans were from other countries they had nothing to do with slavery and they came here because they found prejudice in the countrys. I don't see the immigrants beating the drum over and over. The world could be hard, cruel world but there are people who would not, could not and never would hurt someone of color or abuse anyone. You bunch the Caucasians as one group, as yacking about the race card. It is as true as you yacking about Caucasians daring to use the expression race card. You said Oprah made it so we think racism is exonerated. No we don't but continuing the drum does not help. Obama like every President will be blamed for failures, as all Presidents have. Why say it is because he is ;black I don't follow your reasoning.”
“Not true. He has at many times warranted disrespect. He did not respect the people and their wishes. Maybe if he respected people, people would respect him It usually works that way in any color situation.”
PCCNYC on Nov 16, 2013 at 18:22:42
“He was elected President twice. Apparently there are people who did not feel he treated them with disrespect.”
mrior12345 on Nov 16, 2013 at 14:17:50
“Specifically which people and whose wishes has the POTUS not respected?
“I am surprised you read over 1,000 pages or do you believe anything you hear. So far it is a disaster. So it is better to have no policy rather than the one they had. What you wrote is not true. It was not inferior. I know people who had no compliants about their health plans. Stop defending failure.”
“I don't agree with Oprah. Obamacare so far is a disaster. She is trying to tape the mouths of people who feel passionate about an issue by saying it is a race issue. Was she ever in politics, does she know how it really works. This is not a defense saying they behave that way because he is Black.”
“Are you serious. This is not a Republican issue. This a people's issue. The world is laughting at us. Socialized medicine is a failure. Anyone that could afford to come for treatment would come to America. Stop defening every Democratic issue there is. This country is supposed to be by the people, for the people. If the people do not want Obamacare their wishes should be honored. This is not a country by the Democrats/Repulicans wishes. Answere this if this is so wonderful why are the Senators and congressman exempt from it. THINK”
“Oprah you are using the race card. That is beneath you. In some cases maybe not the house, Presidents were shot. Was that because they were white. Some were shot fatally. I am disappointed. It has nothing to do with color. He made a drastic mistake with Obamacare. Maybe he longer worries about his health plan but millions of Americans do. I am disappointed. You are hiding behind your color.”
intreveus on Nov 16, 2013 at 14:14:45
“NO, she is telling the truth. You may not like that, but she is telling the truth. When a successful person of color says anything about race, Caucasians always yack that one is playing the race card. Just because persons of color are successful doesn’t exonerate racism in America—now do you get it, Example, North Carolina and other states passed the first laws prohibiting slave education in 1740, but that didn’t prevent slaves from successfully learning to read as well as write, which was most prohibited. If slaves complained then that they were being unequally treated, those slave owners could say that’s ridiculous because we know of slaves they can read as well as write, which shows that there is no difference between us. As a result, slave owners of those days wouldn’t consider themselves racists either, after all, their African slaves were deemed by them to be commodities, not fully human. That was the prevailing mindset about African slaves in American from 1500 thru 1865. That means it took 365 years to make the inhuman practice of slavery illegal in America. Racism will not end easily; after all, it’s only been 148 years since 1865.”

“Obamacare is NOT a Drastic Mistake NOR a mistake by any reckoning. Nationalized Healthcare now known as Obamacare is a Republican Creation of the Conservative Republican think tank The Heritage Foundation almost thirty years ago. it is BIPARTISAN in that Republicans Created it and Democrats Accomplished it. Obamacare will Prove to be anything but a Mistake once it is Properly Implemented. The Rollout of Obamacare is a Disaster but a Fixable One and Not the End of the World as Republicans like to claim.”
“Are you serious. Who wouldn't come to the meeting. READ A LITTLE More. Yes you are right something is wrong with the picture. We are getting only one few on the television, computers and you totally bought into it THINK”
“Boener has done a good job under the circumstance. The Democratic media poses the question in a negative way. You know everybody, Obama is the President he should have helped mend the gap. He just added to the poor against the rich. Too Bad”
