“The St. Jodi of Arias Show. Ugh. Even worse than I thought it would be. Me Me Me. Well, this jury found her guilty of premeditated murder, with extreme cruelty, so I can't believe they wouldn't agree on giving Arias the death penalty. For gutting Travis Alexander and not even being remotely sorry about it, she deserves death.”
“Was doing a fair amount of channel surfing during some of the commercials so I missed a bunch of 'em. Am I the only one who laughed at the Doritos-eating goat? When it screamed at the empty shelves, that's just how I feel when I can't find any chocolate in the house.”
“Probably some truth to that! There's this guy who lives in my retirement community; he's dumber than a bucket of rocks and drives around in his golf cart with his pit bull and a gun on his hip. I kid you not! A lot of the geezers in here are armed to the teeth. Paranoid much? They're all avid Fox watchers, too. Being a liberal Democrat in this community must be a lot like being a Democrat in Utah, eh?”

“Very much so. I flip to fox periodically (to know what's up with
them) -- people who only listen to them & right-wing radio get such a slanted
view of the world. It's not like the old days when we had the loyal opposition
--both sides would get in heated arguments over policy but had respect for each
other. Fox news & Rush telegraph hate
& are in effect inciting violence.
These days the right wing media constantly spews their messages of
hate & say that the president & democrats are trying to destroy the
country. It's incredible. No one will ever convince me that both sides are
behaving the same way. Not true. We may disagree completely with policies the
right is proposing. But we still give them credit for WANTING the best for the
US (however misguided). A lot of people packing in Utah, too. I just found out that
teachers here can take their guns in the class & there's no obligation to
notify a parent. What a great idea, huh? Teenagers know where to find a gun.
And it's not as though a teacher has EVER been overpowered by students?? Take it easy & have a good weekend.
“I don't understand it either, paulita. It frightens, saddens and infuriates me in equal measure. *sigh*”

“There's a theory that for SOME insecure men who feel inadequate in some way & possibly believe they've been short-changed life, so to speak, a weapon gives him increased confidence & makes him braver. The weapon may represent an extension & compensate for his short comings, so to speak.”
“My husband was poking around a local thrift store this morning and ended up talking to a woman who was visiting from Scotland. "What is wrong with this country?" she said. "Why all these guns? Is everyone armed? I never saw such a violent society!" Well, what could he say? The politicians in this country are at the mercy of the NRA. At least hookers are honest about taking money for favors.
Meanwhile, so much for the constitutional rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for the victims of gun violence.”

“Most Europeans don't understand this love of the gun thing we've got going on here.”
“Well, I dunno. Scott only won by a very slim margin, and now he's made all of the FL GOPpers look pretty bad, by association. I think Charlie has a good shot at the nomination (although I would prefer Alex Sink). And while Charlie Crist has some 'splainin' to do (all that flip-flopping..oh my!), he sure has plenty of ammo against Scott. I say bring it on!
Politics in Florida: A blood sport.”

“Alex Sink would be the better choie. Time for a democrat to be the gov of florida. Not a former republican turned independents.”
“It sure seems like the only people who feel the need to stockpile weapons, especially assault weapons, are criminals or cowards.
My husband's a licensed gun owner and didn't get his panties in a wad after the tragic Newtown shootings, running down to the local gun dealer and buying everything in sight. He has one gun. One. Not an arsenal.
People who panic when you mention gun control are truly frightening to me. Paranoids with guns! Hey, just what this country needs more of!
And folks who cry out "Second Amendment!" always seem to forget the "well regulated" part. Makes you wonder if they've even read it.
Meanwhile, innocent people continue to die. Some "freedom."”
